Wallpaper question

all the walls in all the rooms in my house, bar the bathroom, are covered in woodchip, it came this way.

I have decided that 2008 might just be the year to get rid of the woodchip, but the question begs, what do you put up instead?

I like to paint a room, I'm not adverse to painting a room would rather paint than strip wallpaper every now and then.

So do I just buy lining paper and put it up and paint it when needed? or are there other types of paper that you can buy that are flat and can just be painted when needed? What do you have on your walls at home?

thanks for advice

I think you just paint straight onto the lining paper.

You may find some of your walls need skimming, in which case you may be able to paint the plaster.

Sorry, that's no use at all, is it?!

Depending what age of house you have, you could just paint straight onto plaster. That's what we've done in the old cottages we've lived in. In a more "polite" kind of house that wouldn't really work though.
