They are really quick and efficient compared to a normal iron (though ours cost more like £200).

LittleSleighBellasRinging · 29/12/2007 09:28

They're in the sale at the moment and I'm wondering whether to buy one

It sounds a bit of a hassle if they get the clothes really wet.

What makes you think they get the clothes really wet? They don't.

LittleSleighBellasRinging · 29/12/2007 09:51

Don't they? I looked up a thread from the archive (not wanting to bother people with my trivial iron dilemmas ) and someone said they got the clothes too wet. Does that not happen then?

Not IME.

MrsWeasleysmagicmincepies · 29/12/2007 10:28

LL: I iron knickers

LittleSleighBellasRinging · 29/12/2007 10:28

Why?

welshdeb · 29/12/2007 10:54

I HATE ironing and I got one last year. it does make the ironong easier. They are good, great with jeans and very creased things. Also some light things get away with a steaming not an iron.

LittleSleighBellasRinging · 29/12/2007 11:14

What's the difference between a steaming and an iron then?

but dh did, and i think its fantastic

onlyjoking9329 · 29/12/2007 12:15

i have often wondered about these and those ironing press things which is the best, LL i wouldn't mind some domestic kids staff

merryberry · 29/12/2007 12:59

unequivocally brilliant things. i've halfed my ironing time with one. also they don't trigger my right hand RSI, as the iron part is very light, with water kept in the seperate resevoir.

I got one last year and the next best thing would be for someone else to iron, but as I don't have home help...the iron is speedy, quick and makes a shi*t job that more bearable.

For those that don't iron anything - what about school shirts/uniform? You must need to iron something?

suedonim · 29/12/2007 15:59

They're fabby! And even JLP sell them for much less than £100 now. They cut ironing time by half as you generally only need to iron on one side. It's best to have an ironing board with perforations in it, rather than a solid one, iykwim, so the steam passes right through - that could be the cause of the wetness you mention, though it's never been a problem for me.
