best steamer to buy?

should i go for the most powerful one?
one basket or 3?
are they really useful or just another gadget?

Personally, I would buy a stainless steel one, not too expensive. Mine was from Debenhams about £35. Plastic ones tend to discolour over time and they are more expensive. I would definately buy a two tier one, I usually start off with carrots/potatoes and then add broccoli/courgettes/spinach later. Works a treat, tastes better and far less washing up!!

why not just put a couple of spoonfuls of water in the saucepan with the vegetables, put the lid on and steam cook them that way. It works brilliantly, and is cheaper!
