I have the techno xt. Which one is the best in your opinion?

I really want a new pushchair and i'm trying to justify buying a new one to dh

isn't the techno the best?

i have a quest and it's fine, but the techno looks much better!

PuppyDogTails · 22/12/2007 15:39

Ditto tassisssss

lazawreath · 22/12/2007 15:41

Is the xlr a bit newer and bigger than the xt? Ive got my eye on that one.

OP posts:
TheBlonde · 22/12/2007 15:42

xlr is wider and will take a car seat if I recall correctly

they are reduced at mothercare now

moljam · 22/12/2007 15:45

i had quest and now have volo as second pushchair(main one is xts twister)preferred quest though.am tempted to sell volo and twister and get another quest but like twister plus ds is 2 so shouldnt really get any more

lazawreath · 22/12/2007 15:53

Well, ds1 is nearly 3 and ds2 is 2 in march, so am wondering if it's worth it. i just was looking at a chicco one that's got good reviews.

Which Chicco, Laza?

TwinklyfLightAttendant · 22/12/2007 19:40

XLR colours aren't as nice imo, but it is a bit wider.

TwinklyfLightAttendant · 22/12/2007 19:42

Just to add that the Chicco Ct06 (like the Caddy) is reduced in Tesco Direct atm, I just got mine for £12.49
They are normally £50 odd. Well made if not as exciting as a Mac!

mumofmonSTARsOfBethlehem · 22/12/2007 19:53

we are looking at the XLR as it comes with a footmuff/cosy toes or whatever its called.

If we can't get that we are going for the XT and a sep footmuff

joyfulspike · 22/12/2007 19:56

I've got a techno xt, had it and used it nearly every day for over 2 years with absolutely no problems. We've done miles and miles as we have no car and walk everywhere. I love it, its FAB. Only drawback is there's not much space for shopping.

lazawreath · 22/12/2007 21:12

twinkly it's the Chicco CT 0.4 Stroller. My maclaren is really good, I'm just bored of it and the wheels could do with a new lease of life. PLus I just bought a lovely new kaiser iglu footmuff and id love a new pushchair to go with it. A bit self indulgent i know

The xlr looks so tempting, i can't stop admiring it.

I have a CT04 as well, which I haven't used yet as my baby is only 6 months and I still use the air tyres atm. The CT04 came as a swap for a car seat so I thought I'd try it!
I like the build quality very much, it is a nice sort of buggy. The thing that would put me off buying it new is mainly the price (around £120?) in comparison to a Maclaren, and the fact it is potentially less versatile.
The wheels are HUGE on the CT04, and that makes it wider than the Techno - with little gain in suspension, commensurately - if you get big wheels, get ones that make a more comfy ride iyswim! But these just add bulk imo.
The Maclaren is neater and folds smaller (CT is big folded, prob too big for my Fiesta boot) and would be far easier to manoeuvre round shops especiallly in the sales
I would go with the Mac, personally.

HTH! Anything else you wish to know about the CT just ask, I have one to measure/examine sitting here

SleighlyMadSanta · 23/12/2007 08:05

I was told not to get the XLR by teh queen of pushchairs - Misdee....it is quite a bit wider than the XT and the only benefit is that it will accomodate a carseat...which isn't a benefit IMO but that is a whole other issue.

I love my XT....

lazawreath · 23/12/2007 08:07

Thanks twinkly. I wanted something with a big shopping basket because we now have no car. The maclaren in notoriously bad on hte shopping basket front, you can't access it properly once the seat is reclined and it's a bit small and flimsy.
I definitely want something with good wheels and a comfortable ride. I was looking at the jane pushchairs but htey are all £200 upwards. We did have a jane powertwin which i loved, so i know a jane would be as good as a maclaren, if not better.

OP posts:
TwinklyfLightAttendant · 23/12/2007 09:15

Ah, well the basket on the 04 is no more accessible than the Maclaren, so that doesn't change anything!
Jane are great, but expensive. I have a Nomad which again has the plastic wheels, not much suspension, and the basket is totally inaccessible even when the seat is upright, so I would not recommend that!
The slalom basket is gettable at but very small.
The best baskets I've found for access/capacity, are on a Mountain buggy (very dear, but excellent all rounder, comfy tyres, light and also narrow) and a couple of other (but much heavier) 3 wheelers (Easylife Sport and Cosatto T4). These are seriously heavy, not for lifting in and out of a boot.
Graco buggies tend to have enormous shopping baskets, but are otherwise not great - quality and comfort are imo minimal, though they last well for some reason!
I think you would be best to go with the Maclaren tbh, and carry shopping some other way - rucksack etc.
There is an uglier buggy which is much cheaper and anti-tip, is called the Babydan Stockholm I think, really high ratings but not popular because it isn't as glam as the Mac! People who use it say it is better, plus it is much cheaper.
It is supposed not to tip over when you load the handles with shopping. I would love one

TwinklyfLightAttendant · 23/12/2007 09:19

Sorry just re read that. If you have no car, get an easylife Sport. They last till child is 5+ if necessary, easy/light to push, not to lift though but that's Ok if no car. Similar and sturdier than mountian buggy, they can be had for £45 on ebay regularly, despite a new one being £3-400 odd. I don't know why but they depreciate hugely, and are built so well that there is no reason for them to!
I have a second hand one and it was pristine, cost me £85. Worth every single penny. My 4.5 year old is happy in it, even with his baby brother on his lap!
It is comfy and has a huge basket.
I would not swap it for a Maclaren

Bigger child plus small wheels = HARD WORK!!!

lazawreath · 23/12/2007 09:29

Wow twinkly, you have an extensice knowledge of pushchairs. It's really useful though, so thank you. I'll be looking at your suggestions.

FlllightAttendant · 23/12/2007 09:31

I think obsession is the word!

Good luck deciding!

lazawreath · 26/12/2007 17:53

I bought the chicco ct o.4 today from mothercare world in bristol. I figured as it's only going to be for a few more months the jane would be a bit too extravagant.
I like the wheels on it, a bit bulky but not impossible to get through doorways, and it's really easy to push.
Flight, do you know if the buggy board goes on the back of it?
