How do you curl hair with GHDs?

I've got some GHDs and I remember reading in the instruction booklet that you can use them to curl your hair as well as straighten it, but I can't work out how. Anyone know?

Sm, just copied and pasted this from a forum.

saw this being done in a hairdressers. Basically you wrap thick strands of hair around a thick length of tin foil and then hold the GHD straightners on it for a few secs. When you unwrap the strand of hair it should be very wavy. Now the downside is ...its bloody bad for your hair, the smoke coming off the hair was unreal and doing the back yourself would be tricky. It depends on your hair type how long the look lasts, if you have thick heavy straight hair..not gonna stay in for long, if you have kinda kinky hair you will have more success with this. In either case, hairspray should help to hold the style. (so much for this being the easy natural option! more like hard work)

tin foil? fgs

spacemonkey · 15/11/2004 18:51

can't see why your hair should smoke though

Ive tried it, wrap the hair round your finger then remove your finger and quickly grasp the ghd's round it, it really burns the tips of your fingers though. i thought about foing it with gloves on

wobblyknicks · 15/11/2004 19:12

Get some ribbons, wash your hair and tie it up ala ye olden days sm. Or get some cheapo curlers and go round looking like something out of Corrie.

spacemonkey · 15/11/2004 19:12

but i spent 90 quid on GHDs and am determined to get my money's worth out of em

OP posts:
wobblyknicks · 15/11/2004 19:15

90 quid's worth of burnt fingers?? Ok, so what exactly is the big deal about them - what makes them worth 90 quid while other, seeminlgy respectable straighteners are around for 30 quids??

spacemonkey · 15/11/2004 19:16

i dunno, i've never tried the cheapo ones

GHDs do work, even on a shaggy thatch like mine

OP posts:
spacemonkey · 15/11/2004 19:16

i'm going to go and try it now

Has anyone tried the new Remington Wet to Dry starightners that are advertised on telly at the moment? Just wondered if they are worth the money?!

lou33 · 15/11/2004 19:46

fairyfly · 15/11/2004 21:12

lou33 · 15/11/2004 23:40
