Question about Tripp Trapp cushion and harness

We're just assembling our tripp trapp - can you use the harness AND the cushion? Seem to be having difficulty attaching the harness corner clip thingy when the cushion is also on...

I only used the cushion when ds2 was really too small to sit up without it, so he was also too small to push himself out of the seat.

As soon as he could manage without I took the cushions off to make cleaning easier. Once he started pushing himself upwards I attached the harness.

HTH

Have you put the harness clips on underneath the cushions? We have never had any problems with ours, but we found the the covers were a tight fit anyway - they do go on with a bit of effort though

WashSantasRedSuitErsaurus · 15/12/2007 22:04

I agree with purpleturtle, you don't actually need the harness until they start actively pushing themselves upwards.

We do still use our cushions even though DS1 is 2.5 now, we just have 2 sets for washing purposes.

thehairybabysmum · 15/12/2007 22:13

yes but is a squeeze, cushion sort of stretches round where harness goes...i made the seat stick out a bit further than the harness so there was a corner to hook the cushion to IYSWIM

I found the cushion a right PITA as it got covered in carrot every day and had to keep washing it.

I gave up in the end and shoved a towel behind DS's back to keep him comfy anf upright.

Harness was very useful though

Thanks all

We'll give it another bash in the morning!

with the new set it says not to use th bottom cushion with the babyset - may as well not have bothere with the cushion tbh

WashSantasRedSuitErsaurus · 16/12/2007 21:57

Just a quick question, if anyone can help...if I buy a new Tripp Trapp chair now for DS2, will DS1's old wooden babyset fit it? I am not sure that I like the new plastic babyset.

NoviceKnitter · 17/12/2007 08:42

Don't know I'm afraid but I do know that they're about to go up in price in Jan, so if you are going to buy do it now, and perhaps get advice from a friendly shop keeper or the manufacturer?

I think the design is different. Only the back is plastic though, which with a cushion on doesn't show.

3madboys · 17/12/2007 17:04

we bought the new style chair for ds3 and the baby set we have from ds1 and ds2 fitted on it fine

WashSantasRedSuitErsaurus · 17/12/2007 20:16

Oh good, because I also want my existing covers to fit too . Thank you for your help.

NoviceKnitter · 19/12/2007 21:13

Just to say ours is now fully assembled and a very big hit.

quick question, the bit that goes round the tummy to keep them from falling out - sorry crap description is that meant to be taken out to make it easier to ge the bub in and out otherwise its a bit of a tight squeeze.

WashSantasRedSuitErsaurus · 20/12/2007 13:38

I should think it is a bit stiff to keep taking the bar on and off isn't it? I used to find ours very difficult to get in and out when I was changing the chair covers for washing anyway.
