Help!
Does anyone out there know of a doll I can buy a 4 year old which isn't a baby like Babay Born but also isn't up to the level of a Barbie?bratz/My Scenen type thing? One that you can dress etc but doesn't just lie around a coo!!!

M & S do nice rag dolls with a selection of clothes. I think they do a horse and other bits for her as well and they are cheaper than things like Groovy Girls and Lily dolls.

There is a Strawberry Shortcake rag doll too.

Jellycat do a range of dolls with all sorts of accessories that would fit the bill I reckon - look here

Had a quick look on Toys R Us and found thes non-battery dolls. I think some do have things they can do (wet and dry, etc. ) not not battery operated ones or noisy ones, like Baby Annabel. Baby Born doesn't have batteries by the way - although it does wet, soill, cry, etc. it doesn't make a noise - oh and if anyone is interested it is 25% off iin Argos.

Bathable baby with bath - £9.99

Disney Princess dolls - not Barbie style, £9.99 each

My first baby Annabel - just soft bodied, has no actions or batteries - reduced to £12.99

doll with outfit and accesories recuced to £14.99

Tiny Tears - wets and dry classic doll, £18.99

There are lots of standard kind of 15 or 18 inch girl dolls. You can get them in most normal toy shops round here- I've definitely seen them in John Lewis. It's one of the kinds of thing that's actually easier to find in the shops than online unless you know a paricular name. Children's salon, which is the link 80smum gives, has lots of very upmarket ones. If you want to spend a small fortune then Heidi Ott does lovely dolls- Tridias sometimes sell them, or there is a website here .
