Where can I buy an insulated jug?

My ILs are coming for Christmas. They are in their mid 80s. They both like a cup of tea in the morning, and usually my FIL goes downstairs and makes them both one.

However, our stairs are very steep and it is increasingly a challenge for him to carry 2 cups of tea upstairs without

a) risking his life
b) risking our carpet!

This year I thought about buying a Teasmade - but they're bloody horrible (as well as expensive) so I've bought a small kettle instead, and thought that if I provided them with a tray, the kettle, their cups, etc then this would be much better. But leaving milk overnight is not such a good idea, so I'm looking for an insulated jug. I have a thermos, but there isn't any lip on it, so pouring is not easy.

I assumed that Lakeland would have something like this, but they don't.

Any ideas where I could get something appropriate?

wilkinsons?

Makro deffo will (but will be canteen style) if you know someone with a card.

When you say canteen style, do you mean it will be 10 litres?!

SantaBeClausImWorthIt · 06/12/2007 22:27

SEA - I have! Just don't want to kill them by serving them with off milk first thing in the morning!

Lakeland do do a little thermos - is that what you were thinking of?

southeastastra · 06/12/2007 22:28

get up early and put some fresh milk in a little jug for them

SantaBeClausImWorthIt · 06/12/2007 22:30

Get up early?!!!

That was exactly what I was trying to avoid!

I love them dearly, honestly, but getting up at 7 am on a non-work day is definitely not on my agenda!

Thanks JN - that was exactly what I was thinking of. Not sure why that didn't come up when i searched the site, but that's perfect.

No I don't mean 10L, I have deffo seen1L ones, but they are white plastic like you would expect to find in a meeting room.

gigglewitchyouamerrychristmas · 06/12/2007 22:37

you are so thoughtful!!
i got mine in TJ Hughes, wasn't expensive. Dunelm mill also have this sort of stuff. and little insulated milk jugs

southeastastra · 06/12/2007 22:38

my mil (80) uses that awful long life milk. get them some of that (keeps at room temperature - even in the event of a nuclear attack)

SlightlyMadScreachingSirens · 06/12/2007 22:38

HOw about a pint carton in a little insulated picnic bag with a couple of cool blocks...so long as you don't put it in the airing cupboard or next to the radiator that should be good. Basic but good.

SantaBeClausImWorthIt · 06/12/2007 22:45

Oh yes - I have a small insulated picnic bag, that's a really good idea.

But as for those little UHT portions - sorry, but bleurgh. Even a nuclear attack wouldn't warrant those!

You see, I want my ILs to have their tea in their room without wandering downstairs to find the milk in the fridge, thus waking the rest of us up!

Selfish, moi?!

reviving this thread to see if anyone has the solution to this problem (I have the near identical issue)- google and amazon don't seem to understand the meaning of the word 'small' - I want a SMALL insulated milk jug, shouldn't be that difficult surely????
