Terry nappies for heavy wetter

Any ideas for a night nappy for a heavy wetter. Have used terry nappies since ds was born but had to give up at night when he was 1 as they always leaked. He is now 20 months and I want to have another go. We use terry squares and mother-ease. Have tried extra liners etc but no luck.

I think Tots bots are about the thickest and most absorbent, and you can use them with a booster as well for added absorbency. Quite expensive at £7.50 each, but if you're only using them at night you'd only need 2 or 3 depending on how often you wash. The problem is, once you start using them you may fall in love and need to buy more for daytimes as well. Oh, and get some fleece liners, they really do keep the skin dry, and poo just falls off into the loo, so they can be washed with the nappies.

I use Kissaluvs with dd, and I love them. The fleece/terry combination is very absorbant. HTH

Sam I Am! I have used them for both my boys day and night and haven't had a problem. Recommend them highly. Website is www.nappies.net but I don't know how to do a link thing - sorry.

Actually I met the Nappy Lady* in person this WE... and we got talking about nappies (as you would!) and she said that in her (vast) experience, Tots Bots are the most reliable... but I can tell you my son's (2 yo) nappy were soaked but his fleece liner felt very dry !

  • The Nappy Lady is one of the UK most's famous terry nappy sales company/shop - often referred too on this site acually and she sells MANY brands.

I get Sandys Motherease from the Nappy Lady (or is it the other way round?) which have always worked really well. And the personal advisor I was allocated is fantastic.

lou33 · 14/10/2002 23:41

Oops, meant to say I use them with a booster and a fleece liner at night for my 3 year old but only need the fleece for the 19 month old.

I too use totsbots and think they are great. I use with fleece liner and have never had to use the boosters. Once everything has settled with dd she will be using them too (if i put her in them now I would need about 10 a day just for her). I got mine from the Nappy Lady, found their service and help excellent.

Pupuce what is the Nappy Lady like I sort of have this cartoon type picture of her in my head of her being made up of cotton nappies

oh goody a nappy discussion... i'm not a 100% clothie yet but have dabbled with a Under The Nile nappy now and again and must say that fleece liners are ace!!!

just ordered kissaluvs and fuzzi bunz to give them a try as although the under the nile is brilliant... it's incredibley bulky and dd looks very awkward and hindered by them (i know it's just something i will have to get used to as everyone says!) but i was reccommended kissaluvs and fuzzi bunz as a slightly slimmer nappy! so fingers crossed that my dd's first words won;t be... "Does my bum look big in this!"

Cadi · 15/10/2002 22:22

Have you seen Stuffies? they are great for night time as you can put as many boosters in as you need and they are fleece lined so no messing with separate liners.

Is it okay to post links for sites here? I've got no commercial interest in Stuffies I just think they are brilliant and Lottie is so helpful

I have been using totsbots since DS was born (practically_ and find them wonderful. I think the plastics are Motherease ones with snap fastening on the outside able to make them bigger as my ds is finally putting on weight. We have never had an dampness (yet) and he sleep all night long in them too. A firm fan of cloth nappies here!

monkey · 16/10/2002 19:50

I've used imse vimse, mother ease & tots bots. Motherease are really frayed round all the edges & quite bulky, but otherwise good. Imse vimse are bloody fiddly but very un-bulky and very absorbent. But my big vote goes to tots bots -discovered courtesy of fellow mumsnetters. Shame I discovered them so late - only got 6 as it seemed a terrible extravagance on top of all the cloth nappies I've already bought, still I'm on ds no. 2 & hoping for a number 3, so good value

clanger · 17/10/2002 12:54

Thanks very much for your suggestions. I have emailed the nappy lady, but tots bots seens to be the answer.

Both mine (8 months, 2yrs 8months) sleep all night very happily in their kissaluvs! Ds wets heavily and we use a motherease rikki wrap (ooooh arent those pawprints cute!!!) for him, with fleece liners. I had to buy a bigger wrap for dd recently and she doesn't wet as much now she is potty trained, so we have a Bumpy Night (she loved the mouse pattern) and for me (well, not personally you understand!!!) a nappysaurus zebra stripe - they are SOOOOOO cool!!
We never have leaks either.
