its the buggy i had when i was little!! I think Maclaren are probably good enough that i would use one of those! Mine lasted for years and years of me climbing all over it and mum pushing the shopping up the road in it!!!

i dont remember the straps might be an idea just to check them - how old is your little one that you want to use it for?

sinkingfast · 09/11/2004 11:55

I've inherited an ancient Maclaren buggy from a friend and so far it's been used for eight children (not all mine ). It lives in the back of my car and is used several times a day - I love it! WOuldn't let the fact it's not new bother you, especially as you know its history IYSWIM.

Oh god yes. Just make sure it won't actually collapse when the baby is in it.

If it wears out, you can always get a new one.

I remember my brother having exactly this buggy! I did too but I don't remember that. I think they are so ccol!

It can't be less safe than our mclaren volo-that doesn't even have a brake!

If you are unsure I think there are buggy clinics in many towns that can check it out for you but tbh-what can go wrong with a buggy?

LOL rockets Go for it Sleepydeepy0, my only concern would be the age of your child and whether he/she still needs a good recline function.

thanks everyone yes its the red and white strippy buggy its just got a strap no five point harness and the seats like nylon come plastic strippy seat yes theres the safety element but im bit weary what any body will say you no any remarks i might get from using a buggy like this on the back its a ticket says baby buggy on it... ok it might not cope with these modern all terrain buggies can cope with but i dont want upset and not use it my sone 2 and a half ( just hope he doesnt no how old it is lol!!! might no go in it )it does seem quite strong tho as buggys go its doesnt shake and rattle too much

I wouldn't worry about the strap. My buggy (and car seat for that matter) has 5 pont harness, but dd (2years old) takes the shoulder straps off so effectively they both are 3 point harnesses!! (and there's nothing really I can do about it...)

We had the blue and white stripy one of these when I was little - lovely buggy! I remember it being very comfy. I'd use it!

zephyrcat · 10/11/2004 09:19

Hi - I had mine when i was 4 or 5 so that would make it.....around '82 '83. I had the red and white one If we still had it i would use it now - I remember i used to jump all over it and mum used to put loads of bags of shopping in it lol. The seat is that really strong nylon stuff and the footrest bit was a rubbery grey strip that i used to stand on and never broke Almost wish i still had it!!!

sleepydeepy0 · 14/11/2004 16:49

thanks yes i got it and have used it had some looks tho from some people
can you get linners for this type buggy and hoods for it any knows
if you see any these buggys do post least i know im not the only1 got 1 still

Perhaps the Volo accessory kit would fit - think that includes a liner and hood/raincover. Otherwise you could get a generic plain footmuff and hood/raincover separately.
