I have these ones from lloyds pharmacy they are really quite good albeit depressing.

foxinsocks · 30/11/2007 14:39

I'm suspicious of these. How do they know?

StaryNightSky · 30/11/2007 14:49

They work by sending a tiny electrical pulse through your body and measureing the level of water. More water = more muscle therefor less fat.

They are very inaccurate. If you want an accurate measurment you need to use callipers!

Sorry to be a bore.

TheBlonde · 30/11/2007 15:51

Surely you need to know what you are doing with the callipers though
And how do you tell the fat from muscle?

No callipers are very easy to use.

Once you work out which measurements you are going to use. From Memory there is a 6,8,9 or 12 point measurement.

You do NOT have to work out what is fat and what is muscle it is done on skin flaps. Which in their nature are related to fat not muscle.

Serious not complicated and the alternative is as inaccurate as BMI.

HTH

hmm I think calipers would be far too depressing and time consuming
