Amby 'Nature's Nest': does anyone have experience of this baby bed?

I'm thinking about getting this baby bed for my newborn - have a moses basket at the moment which he just does not want to sleep in. It's very early days, I know, and I expect he will settle in it at some point, but I heard about this bed and wondered whether it was worth getting. It's expensive though at £150 and I'm not sure if it's worth it or whether it just means that you get yourself into more trouble as your baby will always be rocked to sleep. Has anyone tried one of these beds?

We had one for our youngest DS and it was brilliant. I think he found it really soothing as when he stirred in the night it gently rocked him. Also, it cradles the baby, so they are in a more natural position than sleeping flat. He was in it for fifteen months and then moved to a cot with no problems. (Also it is easy to put up and dismantle, so great if you are travelling).

It is lovely to look at but my dd has not slept in it at all - now 7 months! Basically I wouldn't say it was a fool safe method to make your baby sleep

SpeccieSeccie · 28/11/2007 18:43

I've got one and was really excited about it but my midwife said she couldn't recommend it because there have been issues with it - how it is put together - (mine is a bit 'wonky'), so I ended up too scared to use it and it was a waste of money. I was going to put it on Ebay but I'm rubbish at Ebay and, well, had other things to do when ds was newborn. Might get round to it but not sure I can really punt it as in all conscience this midwife had researched it and said that from a legal point of view couldn't go along with it.

I have one and used it for both ds. They both slept well in it and I have kept it to use again in future.

I have one. Used it right from the beginnning though. It lasted until she was about 11 months and then we transferred her into a cot and she's a brilliant sleeper compared to DS.

my ds (6mo) has been in his since the first night. He has slept through the night since 10wks and always seems very comfy. It has travelled to varoius places with us as it is really easy to dismantle. However, I am dreading taking ds on holiday in Jan as we can't take the hammock and I'm not sure how he will sleep in aflat, non-bouncy cot.
I would definately recommend it

I loved it on the website and nagged DH for one for DS2 but I have to say we haven't used it. DS2 is quite a big baby (I think they swapped him in the hospital because we're both small!) and he likes to sleep with his arms stretched out so the hammock was no good at all.
Selling mine for £85 (with the fitted sheets) if you're interested.

twinkle - get a baby sheekskin things ASAP. This is what the company recommended to us when we were worried about transferring our first to a cot. We put it in the nest for a month or so before hand and he got used to sleeping on it. Then we put it in the cot when we transfeered him. Worked wonderfully well and we did it with our second too.

WinnieThePooh · 29/11/2007 14:41

My DD2 loves hers. She is 7 weeks old today and sleeps about 6 hours straight through at night.

I usually hear her making little sounds as if she is about to wake, but soon goes back off to sleep with the rocking motion of the Amby Nest.

Aitch · 29/11/2007 15:02

buy elle's one, that's a bargain! dd loved hers, absolutely.

Yorky · 29/11/2007 22:13

DS slept in his until he was about 7months and slept better earlier than most of my friends DCs, I loved that we could pack it so quickly and easily and it takes up less room than his travel cot and he had his own bed wherever he went. Not selling mine as want another one to put in it! Nothing works for everyone but I'd recommend giving it a go
