Does anyone know where I can purchase something to help vent my tumbledryer. I have seen them before, they are little box things you put the hose into. I just can't remember and it's getting too cold to have back door open anymore!
TIA

I got the Betterware one as well, as also found it completely useless.

thread here about condensing boxes, bh.

jmb1964 · 08/11/2004 23:16

useless - might as well put the tube into a large biscuit tin if it would make you feel better!

We got ours at John Lewis 9 years ago and had it drilled through the kitchen wall to the outside! luckily we were on a new estate at the time and the brickies were still on site and did the job in about 2 minutes!

what a thread just when i needed it! ive only found out today that after having my dryer for 6 years it should have a pipe on it. do i really need one and why? dryer has a side or back vent depending on where you choose. have just moved it onto a shelf on top of my freezer. please dont tell me this is bad as i have no room anywhere else for it! its in a large cupboard (built into house with plaster walls type thing) is this something i shouldnt do? (bear in mind that i am an idiot)

nightowl · 11/11/2004 02:56

i know its boring but anyone? [grin}

nightowl · 11/11/2004 02:57

there it is

JanH · 11/11/2004 09:20

You really are a nightowl, aren't you?

The reason for venting/condensing is to keep all the hot moist air out of your house. If you don't mind hot moist air (and presumably you don't or you'd have done something about it by now) then it doesn't matter. However now you have put it in a cupboard you should leave the door/s open when the dryer is running or else it will get incredibly hot and could overheat (I think).

HTH.

thankyou! its steaming my kitchen up now...previously was in the pantry right by a vent. my kitchen is VERY small. i had to move it to fit toyboxes in ready for xmas! so long as its not dangerous then im ok with that...thinking of buying a pipe to put out of the catflap...love to see how the cats react to that one!

sparkler1 · 14/11/2004 22:33

We also put ours through the catflap. Only problem is its a very expensive way of doing it for us. Cat goes nuts if she can't get inside. She has chewed and clawed her way through two of them. We have now taped up the second one. It will have to last like that until the summer and we can open the door in the warmer weather.

nightowl · 15/11/2004 01:23

hmmmm... (bonfire suddenly goes out) my cats are kinda vicious!
