Bugaboo has flat tyre - am useless at that sort of thing

What do I do, clever people? I seem to remember a valve thing coming with the original package which of course I've gone and lost. And do I pump it up with a bicycle pump (which of course I don't have) or take it to the garage and use their air machine and overfill it and explode the thing?

And what happens if it's a puncture? Have visions of messing about with a bicycle repair kit which is beyond my capabilities.

I was just going to post the same thing except I have an urban detour with a flat tyre-have tried blowing it up with the pump but its obviously a puncture.help!

I call my dad when our P&T gets a flat.

My friend ended up buying foam tyres for her Bug because she got fed up with the punctures. Not cheap though -£60 for two wheels.

sorry no help.

i took mine to petrol garage to pump up. is it flat or punctured?

DarrellRivers · 27/11/2007 15:06

I use a bicycle pump for Phil and Ted ,I found you could cope for ages doing this regularly then eventually if punctured you will need a puncture repair kit.
My brother did mine for me, eternally grateful as it was quite fiddly.
Not sure if bugaboo has similar wheels
Good luck , it's a PITA

I took the whole wheel with flat tyre still attached off my urban detour and went into the local bicycle shop. It had a puncture. They fitted new inner tube, pumped it up and it was £8.

The inner tubes from childrens bikes or mountain bikes will fit most pram tyres so try the bike shop first as you'll prob get ripped off if you try to buy one from the pram supplier.

Oh of course! A bicycle shop. We have two round our way - will go in and plead hopelessness.

Have vague memories of oily hands struggling with inner tubes in a washing up bowl of water to check for punctures - aged about 11 - followed by instructions from my Dad to apply rust remover to my bike and scrub it all off with a toothbrush. I really cannot go there again

Oh yes the pleading helplessness is good. I am usually intelligent/feminist but anything like this I flick my 'airhead/bimbo' switch and it works every time.
Even better if you pretend to be admiring suitable bikes for dc's xmas presents while you are there.

Do get to know your local independent bicycle shop. They are great and I have no vested interest!!!

Ours have repaired countless pram tyres for me and my sisters at no charge and have helped us choose the appropriate bikes for our children.

Of course I realise that it's in their interest to help as we have bought from them but they are so nice and helpful and the bikes were no dearer than Woolworths, Hlafords etc.

bigspender30 · 27/11/2007 15:56

good plan ladies. Will go search out my local bicycle shop

NorthernLurker · 27/11/2007 18:27

make sure they pump it up only to what bugaboo recommend not the max for the tyre - too differnt things
