PS2 novice alert. What games should I get?

I've got my kids a second hand PS2 for Christmas and now I need to know about games.
I don't like the violent/shooting ones.

I have a 9 year old girl and three boys aged 7, 5 and 2. So which games should I be getting for their stockings?

my 4 year old likes the buzz junior games - she has jungle party and robojam. They use special controllers and you can have up to 4 players on each game (or they can play them alone too)

Lego Star Wars either I, II or the new Complete Saga! It is the most regularly played in this house. DS1 has been playing it with alarming ease since he was nearly 5.

We've got the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory game which is lovely; think it's a single player game though.

Pollyanna · 21/11/2007 19:49

ooh watching this thread as I have got one for my children too (I also want the karioke(sp) game - is it called Pop Party?).

My ds loves the lego starwars games - he is 8.

Spidermama · 21/11/2007 21:46

Thanks for these suggestions.
Hi Pollyanna.

I like the sound of the Charlie and the Choc factory one and I seem to remember crash bandicoot from days of yore.

My son talks of Maths ones and other educational games. (This is when he's pulling out all the stops to try to get me to buy a PS2). Is he having me on?

I have to second the Star Wars I & II thess have been played again and again (kids are 5 & 9 but I like playing too if I can be Darth Vader)! Spyro is great too, and they are oddly keen on Sims, but I don't get that. We borrow games from our local library (£2.60 for a week), which is a good way of trying them out (they liked Worms and the thing with the rabbits -- Raving Rabbits?). Don't Blockbusters sell second-hand games too? Must say I've never heard of any educational games ...

Spidermama · 23/11/2007 21:50

Good tip about the library. I didn't know they lent games.
