I was just sitting doing it with dd and the whole thing cama apart and all the parts fell out the bottom. Im really upset as it was a lovely one ,a new version of the old victorian ones. Do I let the friend know who bought it , incase she buys anymore or can notify where she bought it from as its VERY dangerous??? . The inside of the top is VERY sharp. Or should I go about finding the distributor myself, (Not sure how, as theres probably loads??)

I'd tell her Melsy. You can offer to take back yourself - but it should defintely go back. Your dd could have been playing on her own with it. Could have been nasty

You could report it to Trading Standards too so worth finding out where she bought it at least.

I know and I thought those sorts of days had gone, it even has CE mark on it ,which means it passed british standards and testing, APPALLING .

I would tell her so you can find out where she bought it. She may have bought one for someone else too. Trading Standards would be interested, I'm sure. It isn't as if your dd was hurt by it so she might feel bad but not guilt stricken, iyswim!

Melsy the CE mark doesn't indicate it's past any testing I don't think. It's the lion mark that indiactes toy safety.

Northerner · 04/11/2004 16:26

passed not past. OOps!

I found this european directive on toys
it seems CE symbol is meant to mean that the toy is fit for children under 14yrs.

No the CE mark simply means that the toy is availble on the european market.
