My Ds will be two just before xmas and I have brought him a Little Tikes police rocker and a broom and mop set (he loves them) for his birthday and will be getting him a little battery trike and a musical thoimas thing for xmas.

It took me forever to decide what to get,BUT now my dad and my brother want to know what to get him and i am all thought out.

Any ideas ???? They usually spend between 15 -20 pounds on him for his birthday and again for xmas.

wooden puzzles, jigsaws
stickle bricks
duplo

tesco wooden train set (lots of cheap extras can be added in subsequent birtdays...)

zubb · 04/11/2004 11:23

Ds1 is coming up to 3, but the things that have been played with all year are -
fire engines
duplo
plane with people and trucks (Argos I think)
farm
cars and play mat

books are always a good idea as well, especially if you are worried about finding space for more toys

fio2 · 04/11/2004 11:24

would secong the wooden sets. they have a figure of 8 one in woolies atm for 15 quid. then as pops say you add bits etc. ds loves his

mine was heavily into bob the builder at 2 aswell!

megasketcher?

nutcracker · 04/11/2004 11:32

Hmm should of said shouldn't I. We already have a wooden train set, 3 etchersketchers, and 3 bags of bricks. Sorry should of mentioned that.

Like i said he will be 2 BUT he's not very forward and so alot of the toys seem to be too complicated for him and he just gets frustrated with them.

He loves bear in the big blue house at the mo, we already have the dancing bear but i am struggling to find any other stuff of that to buy.

He also likes Bob but alot of their toys are from age 3 and seem too old for him. Nearly got him the Bob digger (scoop is it ), but you had to do what it said, like fix my front wheel etc which would be lost on Ds as he wouldn't understand wehat was being said.

popsycal · 04/11/2004 11:37

oooh a baby keyboard....they are a bit more pricey but you could ask a relative to combine birthday with xmas.....

popsycal · 04/11/2004 11:38

baby keyboard

they attach to your pc keyboard and there are 3 cd roms of varying diffculty - help learn colours etc

basic at the beginning and getting harder.....ds loved it from last xmas

nutcracker · 04/11/2004 11:39

How about clothes with favourite characters on which may save you having to buy them later, like pj's tshirts, socks, and although not exciting in themselves he may at least accept the designs ! I hate this present for present's sake kind of stuff. We do this for neice whose bday is Xmas Eve - one present clothes, one toy

nutcracker · 04/11/2004 11:40

Thats brilliant Pops, my dad and brother could get him that as a joint xmas pressie

OP posts:
popsycal · 04/11/2004 11:41

It really is good fun - your old kiddies would enjoy it too and could 'teach' ds hw to use it!

nutcracker · 04/11/2004 11:42

Lizs my mom has collared that one this year and has brought him loads of clothes. Good idea though.

Am going to suggest the baby keyboard and see what they say.

popsycal · 04/11/2004 11:43

nutty - i couldn't find it anywhere apart from on amazon last year though - so it may have to be bougth online.....

nutcracker · 04/11/2004 11:48

ah right o.k. Do you have one then Pops ??

OP posts:
popsycal · 04/11/2004 11:48

yes!
ds loves it!

Bozza · 04/11/2004 11:51

DS definitely like the Bob pull and go machines at that age and they are fairly straight forward for your DS. They're about £6 each and think Dizzy is cheaper.

What about dressing up clothes - I know your others are girls so something more boyish eg fireman, pirate etc.

JoolsToo · 04/11/2004 11:53

thought it said 'WANT to buy 2 year old boy'

MilkyWay · 04/11/2004 11:55

They had baby keyboards in Toys R Us last year.

Branster · 04/11/2004 11:59

don't know if it's been mentioned already but how about the battery operated small Thomas the Tank Engine since you already have a train set (ELC or Amazon, Mothercare or other toy stores would sell it). It's about £15 (??) but you have to see if they have it in stock as they seem to sell very fast for some strange reason. I know it's expensive for what it is but all little boys just love it!

Branster · 04/11/2004 12:00

there are also little computers with their own key board (although probably for use from 3y) for about £25

nutcracker · 04/11/2004 12:04

LOL Jools

Thanks for all the suggestions, have written them all down.

I will check toysrus thanks Milkyway.

There are a couple of Berchet Baby Keyboards on ebay as well.
