What mattress does your child have on their bed?

I bought a cheap mattress from mothercare to go with the big boy bed for ds but it is so lumpy and it must be uncomfortable. He's been sleeping on it for a few months and I really wish I hadn't bought it. His bed is a small single.

A cheap one unless your DS is night trained!

Lilliput, don't forget that just because it feels lumpy to you, it may not feel lumpy to DS. He is (I am guessing) significantly lighter than you are and so he is unlikely to feel the lumps as keenly (as he doesn't make such an impression on the mattress, iyswim).

Dd2's just came from Toys R Us, so not a proper brand iyswim. It is a sprung mattress rather than a foam one though.

Had a very cheap one which came with bed from Argos. Then dh had to spend the night on it when ds was ill - most uncomfortable night ever according to him. As nomdeplume said, because ds is lighter he swore it was just fine but we went and got a decent one from Bensons (about £80) and it will do him for the next 10 years or so.

A word of caution though, don't know what kind of bed you have but the cheaper mattresses are a lot thinner. Ds has a mis-sleeper and when we looked at the more expensive ones, some would actually have come above the guard rails at the side!
