Have to choose between Tefal Electronic Super Kitchen and Smoby Studio Kitchen, are they both electronic??

DD is getting the nice play kitchen for Christmas which I was looking at during the summer (that's about £120 but wonderful and I managed to save up most of the money so far) but I want to get a play kitchen for a goddaughter we have and I only want to spend about £20 ish for her.
So I looked and looked and now I need to decide between these two:

Tefal Electronic Super Kitchen on offer at Woolworth at the moment

Smoby Studio Kitchen on offer at Argos at the moment

It has to have some of those electronic sounds.
I like the Tefal one because it appears to have more accessories but don't know if it makes sounds.

I like the second one because it makes sounds and is taller and wider, also cheaper but doesn't come with a free kettle and toaster.

I'm not going to look at other kitchens as it took me ages to reduce it to just these two.

Does anyone know if the Tefal kitchen makes cooking sounds.
Which one would you reccomend?

Thank you for reading this and I would appreciate any comments.

And does anyone know if the Tefal kitchen has a fridge? And shelves?

My dd has the Tefal, in a slightly different colour but I think it's the same spec. It makes a varied cooking sound for a couple of minutes and then the timer beeps to switch it off. It has two shelves in the front, under the sink, and it has a door on either side, one to an "oven" and one to a "fridge", although there are no shelves inside either.

Word of warning - the noise from the hob will drive you mad

I've got the Tefal one for DD for Christmas, hope its not too noisy, she has enough noisy toys to drive me mad already! It does look good though and great value for money.

It's good value for money, although it's not quite as sturdy as some of the more expensive ones. It's stood up to 12 months of my dd battering it though and is still going strong.

It is quite noisy though ...

Is the £120 kichten the step2 Lifestyle Dream Kitchen Branster???

I do like the Smoby one. saw it just after we bought the elc one last year - although that has been v successful. I think Smoby is a v good make.

woodpops yes it's the narrower of the 2 versions of lifestyle kitchen. they had it on sale for £99 on woolworth website 2 weeks ago and i didn't have all the money (still haven't but at least DH will be more willing to pay towards it rather than being hit by a request for £120 at once ) tehre's a website where they were selling it for £115. do you want the link?

WigWamBam great news! That's what I was hoping for because it looks like such good value. admitedly the smoby one looks somewhat more interesting as a design but the tefal has all those extras. will go for it then! Cheers for that!

We brought it for ds for his b'day. It's fab. What I like about it is that it's wide enough for both ds and dd to play with at the same time without falling out.

I found outdoortoys direct the cheapest web site for them and it's free delivery!!!!

Branster · 03/11/2004 17:37

that's incredible woodpops! That's where I found it top be the cehapest too!

Just had another look at the picture for Tefal and on the box it says Smoby. Great! Because I started feeling guilty that maybe the other one is better quality. All perfect now! And thinking it's actually worth £50 I think it's a bloody great gift for a goddaughter. Now I'm thinking of getting one for DD too instead of the Dream Kitchen (which I just adore, it's so perfect).
