maclaren quest - fantastic and cheaper than the techno. Might not be cheap enough though

I picked up a Maclaren Quest online for £80-90. Great buggy.

maclaren techno 2nd hand - they are much better etc than a quest especially for largish children, the wheels are bigger, the hood is bigger and it has suspension.

Washersaurus · 15/11/2007 16:29

I had a hauck buggy, it was alright - it did the job;nothing special y'know. I did replace it with a super light Maclaren Volo (purchased for travelling) after 12mths though

bagpuss · 15/11/2007 16:30

I would disagree with the Techno if you have a large 2 year old like I do. We have used ours nearly from birth and although ds2 is still OK in it for room, the suspension actually works against me when I push it and the front wheels stick terribly. What about one of the other maclarens (I have been using our volo, which is our holiday buggy but way lighter with ds2 in)? Also the Silver Cross Pop looks nice and the seat lays back or a mothercare own brand umbrella buggy if you want something cheap.

CarGirl · 15/11/2007 16:35

why don't you give your nanny a budget and let her get it as she is the one complaining!!!

TheBlonde · 15/11/2007 16:37

Maclaren Triumph or Quest

Techno is a waste of money if you're not using for a newborn

louweasel · 15/11/2007 20:57

I'd recommend the Silver Cross Pop - I prefer it to the Maclaren buggies I've had. I was choosing between the Maclaren Quest and the Pop - the Pop won for better brakes, better quality fabric and more sturdy wheels - more like those on the more expensive Maclaren Techno. Pop cost me £90 from Boots online - free delivery and you can usually find a code for extra Advantage points pre- Christmas. Like you didn't want to spend much - my DD is 2.8 - but the Pop makes pushing a breeze after my 5 year old Maclaren wore out. Comes in smart black - not sure if you can get a Pop cosy toe but my old Maclaren one fits. The recline mechanism is neat - you release a strap at the back to recline it just how you want and it reclines a fair way - good as DD now tends to fall asleep in the buggy on the school run. Easy to fold and the raincover stores in the pocket on the hood.

mclaren, having had the Zapp, M&P and detour. Simple but does the job. You should be able to pick one up for round £70 (maybe kiddicare or toysrus?)

nappyaddict · 15/11/2007 22:30

i like the pico or the luna.

nappyaddict · 15/11/2007 22:34

what's the redkite one - not heard of that.

louweasel · 16/11/2007 20:44

Sweetboy - the Pop has a shopping basket. The hood is a fair size (but not as large as the one on the Techno) - and covers the seat well even when it's fully reclined. Even has extra velcro bits to attach it to the seat fabric so there aren't any gaping holes - which I used to get with the Maclaren. HTH.
