wall stickers

Can anyone tell me where I can buy nice wall stickers for my little girls bedroom? We have decided its time to separate our trio, so we have started on Rebeccas room. It is PINK, even the ceiling! I have looked everywhere locally for stickers to go on the wall, so far only found a very expensive sheet in our local wallpaper shop, £13, and not very special! Also looking for an inexpensive small wardrobe for her, want to paint it white and then stencil it. Whilst I am here has anyone got any ideas for the two boys, they will have to share a room. Its about 14x13ft, and we would like to be able to create their own area. Thomas loves blue, and Jamesie loves green! Help!

Have you tried Stikarounds (or however you spell it?) Lots of different themes but easily removed. I have no idea how much they cost though.

I'd be interested in any wardrobe ideas you get as I've had a nightmare trying to find one for 5yo DD recently. We had the Ikea Narvik furniture for her bedroom but they've now discontinued it which I could cope with if they hadn't changed the colour stain. And they've also cocked up the drilled holes inside so it isn't actually fully adjustable.

Ikea also do an unstained pine children's wardrobe but since they've decided to wax it, you can't stain/paint to your own colour! Sometimes I really wonder about that shop...... We've searched fruitlessly elsewhere for reasonably price wardrobes that DD can hang her own clothes in.

Sorry, didn't mean to rant on your thread.

What about Matalan, Poundstretcher, Tradex? Do you have any those locally? They are often good for cheap throws, curtains, accessories, both girls and boys

Some catalogues, such as Blooming Marvellous or Jojo maman bebe do wall stickers, which always look really pretty - probably expensive, but worth a look!

If you want a cheap wardrobe to paint, try a second hand furniture store. As you intend painting it, the original colour isn't important and old wardrobes often come in a variety of sizes and some nice shapes. debenhams.com have this one , but she may grow out of it too quickly to justify the price.

I think B&Q had some flower stickers too and maybe the "Bang On The Door" type ones?

Blue and green go well together - could you paint 2 walls blue & 2 green so each boy has his own corner of the room (they'd be in opposite corners). Strategically placed furniture could visually divide the room if you wanted.

Again, Debenhams.com have this range of furniture which comes in blue, green & red. The printed catalogue has more pieces than this including a 2 door wardrobe, 2 sizes of chests of drawers and a cabin bed.

Hope this helps!

Hi triplets, you can get stickarounds like soupdragon said from B&Q. They are around £7 or £8 for a pack. They also do a lovely disney range of paints and stencils. Perhaps pick up the brochure its got some great ideas about decorating, I think the girl theme is fairytale, but I have been looking at Buzz & Woody for my ds who is 2. I rent so I cant decorate in zany colours like Id like to, but with the rate kids change their mind those stickarounds are brilliant, then when you want to take them off just wipe over them with warm water and they come off easily..

Also with your two boys, divide your room into two seperate areas for them, decorate each differently give them their own independance and personal taste. Ikea do a great range of spacesavers (I live in a very small house) and I have found this very useful for ideas and they also have a great range of furniture that can double as a shelving unit or cupboard and a room divider.

There is a picture I liked in the Ikea catalogue which had a rectangle room, two beds either side of the window with wardrobes at the bottom of their beds then in the area by their door there was two small desks both facing each other so almost made one desk with two chairs, very symmetrical. or perhaps if you dont like the idea of painting green and blue try finding a wallpaper with both colours

Also have you tried scanning the second hand shops for a wardrobe?

Let us know how you get on.

I also just painted dd's room girly pink and looked everywhere for stickers to no avail. In the end I painted fairies and flowers freehand onto the walls - it looks pretty good even if I say so myself :-). I also bought a lovely fairytale castle shelf unit from GLTC and a flower shelf from Letterbox.
Ikea is always good for inexpensive wardrobes or buy second hand from a junk shop if you are going to paint...

Thanks everyone for all your messages. Have tried B&Q, mine only have a pack of Bang on the Door at £12.95, which is too expensive. Have scoured several secondhand shops but nothing suitable so far. The boys room probably wont get started until next year, too tight a budget with Rebeccas room and Christmas coming up, but I want to get some ideas so that we hopefully get it right for them, its got to last! We dont have an Ikea anywhere near us which is a shame as I know they are good. I keep looking in the for sale ads in the local paper, no luck there!
I will look at the Debenhams site you recommend, sounds good.
Yesterday when I was visiting an elderly neighbour in a nursing home, we watched a programme on BBC1 at lunch-time. It was called House Invaders and they were doing a little girls pink room, stickers, the lot. I watched it to the end hoping they would have a fact sheet.....no!
Looking forward to more of your inspiration!

Try this BBC Website

I didnt have much joy with the selection criteria - kept coming up with zero matches - but try putting children in the keyword. There a few good ides on there.

This place does some nice stickarounds (store.europe.yahoo.com/linenstore-uk/) - I love the animal alphabet. Sorry I can't do the tidy link!

We just did dd's bedroom with Barbie stikarounds and ds's in Thomas. They look great! Took a while to do, but it was worth it. I think the trick with removing them, esp if they have been up for a while, is to warm them slightly first, eg with a hairdryer. HTH!

Argos sell various stikarounds for £8.95 - just got Winnie the Pooh ones, but they do a pink 'girlie' range too - there are more in their 'Additions' catalogue than in the normal brochure.

Dear "Sue W"

I purchased the Narvik 3-door wardrobe from Ikea about one year ago, and am now relocating and have plenty of closet space so I will not need to take my wardrobe with me to my new house.

I'm not sure where you live, I live in the US, and if you are interested in purchasing the wardrobe, please contact me at [email protected] to discuss it. As I'm not sure where you live or where this Web site it based, you may even be in a different country, for all I know! I am moving in about two weeks, so this would have to be something that takes place rather rapidly. This is a beautiful wardrobe, and a I wish that I could take it with me. As I said, it's only about a year old, so it's in great condition.

Thanks,
Lauren

Help - I recently spotted an ad or a catalogue or a website selling big wall stickers (1m high or so) of octopuses, sharks etc. They had other designs too, but I can't remember what...

I think I want them, but can't find them anywhere - any ideas, anyone?

Check out Frieze Frame - is this what you want?

Thanks Bear - 'fraid not. The ones I saw were more 'cartoony'. The frieze frame ones are great - but more suitable for older kids, I think. DS is only 2.5

There seems to be some at wallart . If you choose the sea option you can order various designs in different sizes. A bit pricier than some options I've seen, but if you specifically want large stickers this may help.

Griffy, I'm sure I've seen the ones you mean in the B&Q/Homebase wallpaper section. I remember the octopus bit! Look on www.diy.com/bq under wallpaper and then 'stickers and borders'. These are listed under Big Borders. Best of luck1
