Which car will fit a kids bike in the boot?

Just that really, can anyone recommend a car with a boot big enough to fit a kids bike with 20inch wheels in the boot, without having to take a wheel off the bike?

I’d like to be able to have one of the rear seats usable at the same time, (so 2 adults, a kid and a bike can all fit in the car) so I guess the car needs to have split rear seats.

Am I looking at an estate? An MPV? Does such a thing exist or am I pushing my luck? Thanks for your superb wisdom!

My kids aren't old enough to have to deal with bikes yet, but what I would say is that a kid's bike soon becomes a big kid's bike, and shortly after that an adult's bike, so it might be worth thinking a bit further ahead for bike racks and so on.

We've got a Dacia Logan which we manage to get a full sized adult bike inside with one wheel off, and the rear seat splits so I imagine a kid's bike won't be a problem. However, it's the backrest only which splits, not the squab.

Other cars with massive boots: Citroen Berlingo/Peugeot Rifter family give you all the space you're ever going to get inside a vehicle. Skoda Superb is one of the biggest proper estate cars in the solar system, matched only by the Mercedes-Benz E-class. Skoda Octavia is a bit smaller, but still huge compared to many. As a general observation, an estate is almost always going to give more space than a similar sized SUV. MPVs give you more height than an estate, but not necessarily more usable space.

Honda CRV meets what you need (with split rear seats I can fit in my bike and 2 kids without taking any wheels off)

By this I mean my bike and the 2 kids’ bikes AND me and 2 kids

Ooh, thank you all, the CRV sounds like a tardis! And that’s a very good point about kids bikes turning into adult bikes, so one to bear in mind. I’ve also just seen a Ford grand c-max, that looks like a bus and I’m wondering if the bike could kind of be wheeled in upright between the two back seats... lots to consider!

Front wheels are usually very easy to remove. Most are levers that are pulled up to release the wheel and pushed down to reaffix.

Skoda Octavia or Superb

We have an Octavia and we can fit a big pram, a bike with 14" wheels and other stuff with room to spare.

I’ve heard good things about the Skoda Octavia, thank you. Now I just need to find somewhere nearby that is actually selling them at a price I can afford... it seems there is a bit of a car shortage at the moment!

My Passat estate could have a bike in the back with both wheels on and rear seat folded down
