Rear facing pushchairs

geordiemacminx · 11/11/2007 20:25

DS is 6 months and is starting to prefer pushchair rather than car seat attached to travel system.

Having been looking at Buzz's, Icandy cherrys and apples and also Hauck Infinity's.

Can anyone recommend any of these, or suggest something else?

I really want something that I'm going to love, as hopefully it will last a good few years. I dont go off road or anything like that, have a ford focus so it would need to fit in poot although I have never had any problems fitting in M&P pramette.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Dont get them ... I got the hauck for the same reason... fits in our focus no prob... they're all pretty much the same... got the hauck because of the price.. I loved my silvercross pramette, but the basinet doesn't last long... the hauck has a great big carry cot which does for another few months, and the seat section I used today but I cant be bothered with the on off of the sections to fold, and am going to go back to the x3... so if you want one going cheep???

I've got the i candy cherry, I love it but thye did have a problem with the first batch which meant my wheel fell off! The shop contacted i candy who replaced it straight away and acknowledged that there was a fault in the first ones they made. They sent the replacement with a notice about not bumping the front wheels down curbs which makes me wonder if it is still a bit flimsey but it is so lightweight. They offered me my money back but I like it enough to keep it, also couldnt think of an alternative as also have a small boot.

Piffle · 11/11/2007 21:20

The apple is HEFTY esp with older child in rear facing
I had the apple which was FAB in carry cot mode
The loola is the same awful with older babe in rear facing.
Hate the Buzz, the Hauck felt too rattly
I got a 2nd hand bugaboo (mostly due to needing one handed steering due to wrist issue (see hefty I candy Apple for causing that) and like it though am getting ready to flog it as ds2 is old enough for the stroller now

geordiemacminx · 11/11/2007 21:26

What colour is it Piffle?

I thought about a bugaboo - would have to be second hand as they are so expensice there are a few people selling them on here but I am a bit about buying things from "chardonaychaneesesmummy" and the like - no come back and all that.. but I have seen you around a lot

OP posts:
Piffle · 11/11/2007 21:42

mine is black (I'm that dull)

geordiemacminx · 11/11/2007 22:03

Black is good.. or pramette is black - I'm really funny when it comes to things matching and too many colours - black goes with everything.

Is it the frog or cameleon?

How much would you be looking for it?

Piffle · 11/11/2007 22:25

oh crikey not thought that far ahead yet LOL

MrsBadger · 11/11/2007 22:44

what have you got at the moment?
(am nosey, me)

geordiemacminx · 11/11/2007 22:51

a m and p pramette, its been great as a pram and with car seat attached just would prefer to see ds. Oh and thanks once again for doing that photoshop for me, i.m starting to learn a few bits myself!

I love my bugaboo too but I would not like to have to put it in & out of my car most days. My frog is my walking pushchair - school run every day and walk to local shops. I keep a buggy/small pushchair in thee boot for when I use the car.

NoviceKnitter · 11/11/2007 22:59

we've got the cherry but still in pram mode. also had prob with wheel as we got ours when they were just out. cherry is super light - i researched rear facing pushchairs very thoroughly when pg and it was by far the lightest. also great steering - can steer easily with one hand. and lovely big basket underneath. as i say, haven't actually put the buggy to use yet but think it will be good.

geordiemacminx · 11/11/2007 23:02

i dont walk very far at all from house, usually drive then walk. That was something else i noticed with rear facing that most you had to take seat off then fold. Now if it was pissing down i'd have to take seat off, place in boot, fold frame, take seat out of boot, put frame in, then put seat on top... That doesnt sound good...

OP posts:
NoviceKnitter · 11/11/2007 23:08

yes they mostly have to have seat lifted off. but the cherry frame is foldable one hand. there is one rear facer that folds in one - it's heavier and i cant remember the name. are you dead set on a rear facer? otherwise just get a maclaren?

Piffle · 11/11/2007 23:17

I have to drive dd to school and use the car seat for getting ds2 in and out of the car with the bug- no great issues
But as he is now outgrowing the car seat...

3madboys · 11/11/2007 23:19

the new bugaboo bee can be rearward facing and folds in piece

i have a bugaboo frog and it is great, i think once you have the knack of folding it is not a problem.

onelittlelion · 12/11/2007 01:43

I had a mutsy light which I loved more than Buzz and is similar weight but not as compact. Then got a Gecko which altho a bit fiddly at first like all bugs are but feels sturdier and lighter to me than frog or cam and is really neat. Also fits in any car! Bugs seem to be going for bargain prices on Ebay at mo too. (Also tried Icandy Apple and Loola and would say everything Piffle has said!) I don't use it rearfacing as much now which makes me think I might sell soon as really got it for that reason but i have tried so many prams and really do love this one!

nappyaddict · 12/11/2007 02:09

with all the ones you have mentioned and also the bugaboo the seat doesn't lie completely flat.

the zooper boogie is my favourite along with the fisher price kuji which is in the argos catalogue.

the mutsys good but i dont think you can fold it up in one rear facing.

nappyaddict · 12/11/2007 02:10

people might mention the britax vigour but again it doesn't lie completely flat.

i know it doesn't really matter but i just think if my ds is going to be sleeping in his buggy it should lie as flat as possible so it is comfy for him.

nappyaddict · 12/11/2007 02:12

i also like the look of this

nappyaddict · 12/11/2007 02:15

oh and theres the m&p herbie.

onebatmother · 12/11/2007 06:50

Firstwheels City Elite.
Bargain prices on Ebay but make sure you get the 2007 version.
Definitely not as sturdy as bug but colours are funky and sooo much cheaper.
BTW you can't get green or purple in UK but you can have it shipped from Ireland.

NorthernLurker · 12/11/2007 07:56

Hi GMM
I love my bug - as you'll know from all my deliberations over footmuffs! RE collaspsing -there is a knack to it and once you've got it then it is easy - there is a video on the bugaboo website showing someone driving into a carpark, parking and unpacking the Bug in about 30 seconds! I still have bad-folding days sometimes but then I don't fold it bery much - once or twice a week so that's ok.

lailasmum · 12/11/2007 07:59

what about the mutsy range. Several of their prams can be forward or rear facing and fold without removing the seat.

geordiemacminx · 12/11/2007 08:22

Oooo lots of suggestions here - thanks ladies.

Off back to bed just now as monster was up half the night but will have a wee look on the internet at all of them when I get up.

Thank you!!!
