Which type of car manual/automatic?
Will be a small run around - thinking about an electric car - but are most of these automatic and if so does that matter? Thx

Depends how far they want to drive and how with it the 17 year old is in remembering to charge it up. Manual petrol for a first car imo.

I have a 17 year old learning too so looking for a safe cheap to insure first car, suitable for a 6'2" long legged ds.

I briefly looked at electric, but when I saw something saying they are in a high insurance group due to cost to repair I went back to petrol models.

Is it still the case that if you pass your test in an automatic you can only legally drive an automatic ?
Look at the cars like the Toyota Yaris, Peugeot and another manufacturer do the same sort of car. Easy to drive and cheaper on insurance to start. You

Ask your 17 year old?

flashylamp · 08/05/2021 08:24

Re manual v auto I mean.

@WeAllHaveWings my brother was 6’4 by that age and had a Fiat Punto, followed by a Vauxhall Corsa, which he fit in just fine. 53 & 59 plates iirc
I have a 2005 Polo currently and it’s surprisingly roomy

Our daughter has a Mini Cooper

Would suggest learning in a Manual gives more options later in life.

Better to learn in a manual. We had a Clio and now a fiesta for our DC, DN learned in an Aygo
