Baby and dog in car advice

Hello!

We are looking to buy a new car in the next couple of months. We have a dog and we are also going to panel for fostering in a couple months so will have a child and a dog. Only thing is we also want to have a baby in the next 2 years or so so will need to consider that too!

Any recommendations for a car to fit a small (9kg) dog, child and baby?

Thinking about those trips at the weekend where we could potentially need to take a pram and the dog with us. Thanks in advance!

Our dog goes in a crate in the boot. We take part of the “lid” of the boot off, so there is a gap but it is not fully open. He is very happy in there and jumps in.

We also have a dog seatbelt, so he can use that anywhere in the car.

Sorry just realised you asked for a car - we have a Toyota Corolla

Honda CRV. Like a Tardis. You don’t even have to get a new one, in fact the slightly older ones probably have even more space. I used to get my three Labradors easily in the boot and have four kids in the car.

Why do posts like this never state a budget?

Loads of cars will do this. Just make sure you get a hatchback so dog and pram can go in the boot and therefore be less risk in an accident (and dog will be safer too). Remember it’s illegal to have a dog in the car either unrestrained or not behind a dog guard.

Ours is super happy in the boot or sitting in the car with her seatbelt. I can fit a lab and two full size car seats into a polo so you’ll be fine.
