Help me find a car!

Reluctantly looking for a new used car as ours doesn't meet the ULEZ criteria. We want a reliable estate car which meets ULEZ and costs as little as possible. Ideally under £4000. Don't mind at all about looks etc, just want it to work for a good few years, be cheap to run/repair and have a decent boot.
Would be massively grateful for any leads!

Any thoughts massively welcomed

A Skoda Octavia might meet your needs? There aren't too many estates around at that price point, but the hatchback still has a generous boot.

Thanks - that's top of my list!!

Toyota Avensis estate would be top of my list.

Also consider Saab 9-3 or 9-5, or Mazda 6.

Accord estate.

cafedesreves · 08/04/2021 23:19

Thank you both. As far as I can see the Accord doesn't meet ULEZ criteria?

Broadly speaking, any petrol-engined car made after 2005, or any diesel made after September 2015, will be ULEZ-compliant.

(There are some outliers to this; one of my own cars, for example, is a 2014 diesel and that's compliant. So it's worth checking individual cars on TFL's checker.)

You probably will find a few Honda Accords of that age that are compliant, they will be petrol-engined ones.

They're good cars, the estate is massive, and they're very reliable mechanically (as are all Hondas). They do, however, suffer with rust, especially around the rear wheel arches. So if you look at one, give this area a check to make sure there isn't any (or too much) corrosion.

The Petrol ones do.
