Ds reckons it's all he wants for his birthday. What is it? Will a 4 year old like it... no idea why he wants it, he doesn't know what Dr Who is!

Dd did the same last year with the remote control Daleks, this was the child who was scared of balloons, Santa Claus and any toy that moved.
She just had to have one (she was still only two at the time) and now has loads of Dr who toys and loves the TV program. She recently got the cyberman talking head and will play with it although thinks it is much better to have grandad wear it.

ds loves dr who, he got the cyberman mask lastg year. Waste of money imo. Uncomfortable to wear and limited play value.

Thanks. That's what worries me Arwen.

Dsis now 7,he has been been bought a fair few of the 'latesttoys' like roboraptor, cybermanmask, daleketc. He has played with all but only for a limited time. The toys with most play value here have been the Playmobil sets (castle, ark etc),Lego, Magnetix, Marbles, toy figures, Top trumps etc. This year we aregetting him a ds as he is a bit older and also has played on mine but not over used it iykwim (i dont like the idea of him playing for hours every day). He is also getting more magnetix, k'nex, papo figures (cowboys and indians), Dinosaur figure (the really nice papo ones with opening jaws, lifelike), A worm farm and lots of other little bits and pieces.

I am veering away from the gimicky stuff this year as spent enough of them in previous years. Ds does have a very active imagination tho and likes to manipulate his toys to the games he is playing. Very hard to do so with the roboraptor, cyberman mask etc.

He does have a tardis wardrobe that he absolutely loves tho and that is very gimicky BUt is is also useful.

Forgot to say, my firends little girl will be 4 soon and is getting one of those digital cameras (fisher price iirc) from argos, they were reduced 25% off i think.

Thanks! Lots of ideas there. I love the playmobil stuff but I find it hard to buy as it has the choking warning on it (have dd 2yrs)Not that she puts stuff in her mouth much but don't want to tempt fate.

Berrie - there's a voice changer in the Hawkin's Bazaar catalogue which I got for ds last Xmas wheh he was 4. Changes voices to robot sounding and looks like a megaphone. About £8 - fab thing!

Much cheaper and easier to use than a whole mask.

He still plays with it a year later and likes to attach it to the TV speakers and turn Cbeebies into robotic weirdos

bobsmum · 09/11/2007 12:57

Just saw you have a 2 yo - dd - my dd is 2 and has just worked out how to use it too - she likes being a robot fairy atm

bobsmum · 09/11/2007 13:01

Just posted that link on the lesbian troll thread by mistake - not sure whether to laugh or cry

MamaMaiasaura · 09/11/2007 13:40

Berrie · 09/11/2007 13:56

Thanks bobsmum.I think he'd really like that...not that he knows the Dr Who mask is a voice changer
