Good bookcase for toddlers ?

I'd like one that shows the front cover and can cope with the vast number of picture books that DS has. Have looked at GLTCs sling bookcase, but it looks like you don't really see the book.
Is the Tidy Book really worth it ? Or are we doomed to have a cardboard box of books on the floor forever ?

the GLTC one looks great, I think you can see quite alot of the book (unless you have loads.

does it matter how much of the book you can see? they very quickly get to recognise their favourites from the spine ime.

The TidyBook case is absolutely worth the moey. Yup, 100 quid (or thereabouts) is a lot of cash, but DS, who is 26mths absolutely loves it and goes back and forth putting books that we've already read back in the case before going 'ummm...' and reaching for the next! he can see the books he has and reach them for himself. Def get one! HTH

think how many books you could buy with £100

At the moment its a case of me peering to see which book we haven't had at bedtime for a while (the board books live downstairs in a box, which I can live with as he likes to put them in and out and choose, the proper books are in his bedroom). DS is 17 months.

We do have a LOT of books - my mum kept all our picture books, and she was an infants teacher with a special interest in literacy so where other grannys had a secret stash of knitting, mine had a stash of picture books. Also grandad is a car boot fanatic, and having got the idea that books are a good gift, donates bags of them to us at a time.

so would all your books fit on the £100 book case? it says it takes 85 iirc which isn't that many. you'd fit loads more on a normal shelf surely?

btw i agree that keeping them available for them to pick themselves is a great idea, but honestly spine-on (esp for fat board books) works fine for us

No, probably not in reality. I think we are going to have to go the sensible route of putting up another big bookcase in DS's room, as the childrens chapter books are taking up space on my bookcases.
I just feel guilty that DS's room looks like an adult room with a cot in it as I can never justify to myself buying special childrens furniture - the sensible part of me takes over. In this case, the thought of more space on my bookcases....temporarily...
