just started carrying two-week old dd in a baby bjorn, but not sure how many layers i need to put on her in this weather. with a little jacket, shoes and a hat on top of a babygro, she seems to get rather hot. does anyone know how much she should wear?

Maybe leave off the jacket? She will be warmed by your body, so shouldn't be wrapped up too much. Does she seem uncomfortable? I's stay with a hat in this weather, though.

Also if you like carrying your DD in a sling, Baby Bjorns have their disadvantages (esp when they get a bit bigger) so you might want to have a look at some alternatives...

I'd go for tights or all-in-ones where you can rather than shoes - they will fall off and you will never notice! Dependant on weather I find that less is more when it comes to sling clothes I've never thought dd was too cold. For windy weather I tend to use a fleece lined waterproof all-in-one thing but she only wears a vest in it! Their bodies get lovely and toasty cuddled up against you so it's really on the extremities you need to look at - and of course if your coat is big enough you can do that up round them - looks a bit odd though

I preferred those footed trousers (e.g. mothercare) rather than babygrows, then wind's not going through the holes. Then maybe a long-sleeved vest with t-shirt over the top, or short-sleeved vest plus hooded cardie (much easier than faffing with a hat). They do get very hot in the bb as the fabric is sooo thick!

In proper Winter, I take my dd out, as I did her elder twin sisters (but not at the same time, although such things are available, I kid you not ) in a non-waterproof snowsuit, with foldover sleeves and enclosed feet, over a babygro. Hat not always necesary because of the hood, but still take it.
I always wear my waterproof jacket that is big enough to fit around her if the wind starts to whip up or it starts drizzling.
