my dd is 18 months and in a maxi cosi priori in our car, which i love but my only complaint is that as im pregnant i find it HEAVY.

I have started babysitting a friend's children afterschool and one condition of this was that she would either drop me home or to the train station afterwards as dh is normally at work. Originally we both thought she had a car seat that my dd could use in her car but she hasnt, and i refuse to put dd in anything that isnt suitable for her age. She definately will not be ready for an adult belt for a long time.

So im looking for a car seat, pref not too expensive as im doing this as a favour and although she does pay me its not exactly going rate iyswim but i want something that fits her car (vectra 51 plate). My car seat fits in her car but i cant carry it about. So ideally light but if not i can just leave it her car.

Apologies for the essay!

top performing seats are going to be heavy- could you buy an adequate one that stays in her car permenantly- check out the nania range- they are reliable seats but without the extorionate prices or if you can stretch to it, the britax evolva as you will use that once she grows out of the maxi-cosi, if it only for short trips you could get away with a harnessed booster as she won't get to fall asleep seat nania do one for about £30 that is good.

Vectras have good seats for fitting car seats- never had a problem fitting one. hth

i found this nania one redicolously cheap that i could leave at her house and could be used as a back up seat for new baby to, in theory, but am nervous about buying it as i hadnt heard of nania, seen a which report etc, are they really up to scratch? if so why does a maxi cosi cost soo much more?

because they are maxi cosi- the seats cost very little to produce but maxi cosi charge more because they do a lot of research and a LOT of advertising- i reccomend the nania seats for second cars or occasional use- well made budget buys. we sell a lot of the nania seats and they are easy to fit and sturdy- in fact we have some in the garage at home for using in grandparents cars etc where spending £200 per seat (when we need atm 3, soon 5 ) is just not practical.
