Non-iron bedding ........ ?

I've never had any bedding that's genuinely non-iron, but what's the best of the bunch do you reckon?

it has to be apoly cotton mix

IMO non iron bedding still needs ironing at least a little bit

MrsBadger · 29/10/2007 18:22

high thread count polycotton percale
(my best stuff is from Harrods)

but then I'd never iron even pure cotton bedding because I am a slattern

Blandmum · 29/10/2007 18:26

jeez does any one iron bedding?????

nannyL · 29/10/2007 18:32

I do

always! even the undersheet! that you dont even see!

kittylouise · 29/10/2007 18:33

Can't cope with polycotton. Bought some bedding from M&S which I thought was 100& cotton and it wasn't - horrible, reminds me of the rotten sheets my gran used to buy as a child!

I don't bother ironing bedding so it all looks crumpled as soon as it goes on (cover it with a bedspread is my motto!)

kittylouise · 29/10/2007 18:34

I can't iron sheets (slattern!). I have tried but they all kind of fall off the ironing board and I create more creases than I remove.

Mym mum said to iron them when they are actually put on the bed, but I can't be having with all that nonsense (would mean taking the iron upstairs, for one, and I can't be bothered.

I am a lazy housekeeper.

ScottishMummy · 29/10/2007 18:52

iron shets gawd no - im only gonna toss and turn and get them all crumpled anyhow..and if im lcky might get them crushed for another reason cotton always feels nice and crisp

franch · 29/10/2007 19:03

Nooooooo I don't iron bedding!!! That's why I want non-iron bedding!!!!

I do cover it with a quilt but might as well go for the least crumply option as I'm about to buy some new ones

Thank you. My unironed sheets have been a dark and guilty secret until now.

When MIL comes to stay I do iron her bedclothes (but only the top layer).

It's like people who iron their underwear, or their dishcloths ... I mean, WTF? I NEVER iron stuff, unless it's a funeral or something. I can usually get away with drying things straight then running the GHDs round the collar .

:sigh: That was cathartic.

WanderingGraveyards · 29/10/2007 19:04

What is this ironing of which you speak?

nannyL · 29/10/2007 19:12

sorry but i iron my cloths and dusters as well
(I like them to look neet in my cupboard and it does only take a few seconds of extra ironing after my clothes that i iron anyway)

not underwear though

franch · 29/10/2007 19:44

eek nannyL

OK, well looking at the next directory (I was thinking of buying from them or john lewis), they list all their bedding as non-iron apart from the 'easycare', which is 'easier to iron'

The 'non-iron' options are:

180 thread count percale - 50/50 cotton/polyester
200 thread count 100% egyptian cotton

So is the polycotton option going to look nicer but feel horrible? It's for the DDs by the way ......

i work for a small family run business selling bed linens. you need to get poly cotton easy care PERCALE for non iron. the percale means that before the fabric is woven the strands are brushed to remove any knots or imperfections ( often just found on polycotton sheets). i would never believe that any 100% cotton is easy care

callmeovercautious · 30/10/2007 11:13

I must be lazy, I didn't know such a thing existed as I never iron it! (unless MIL is coming to visit )

franch · 30/10/2007 14:54

Thanks pud - I ordered from John Lewis in the end - polycotton percale - we'll see!

I just bought cheap white bedding from la redoute! (really cheap) the duvet dosen't need ironing but the pillow cases do (however i don't) I do them in the dryer and put it all straight back on the bed though.

DebOfDorset · 15/10/2014 09:04

"Ancient thread alert!"

That's what I say when I look at most of my bedding.

(Yes, I registered on mumsnet just to say that)
