Slippers - any ideas on where to get nice ones that might stay on?

Very practical question here - does anyone know where I can get 2.5 yr old dd ( with big size 8 feet) a pair of really nice slippers that she might actually like enough to leave on? I've tried a myriad of little zippy styles, velcro styles, but none of them seem comfy enough to stay on the feet. We got through last year with non-slip socks, but now (tis my fault for making sock puppets with her ) all socks immediately go onto hands as puppets, which is fun, but she's left with little icicley toes. I've looked and looked, but can't find anything that are flexible enough to please her in the house, and she's a dab hand at removing all sorts of fasteners, so think it's just a case of getting some really lovely ones thatshe likes (she likes, btw, bright colours, stripes, and isn't particularly girly, otherwise I'd get her some sparkly ones, or something). At the moment, when her feet get cold, she pops on her wellies, which is less than ideal (feet still get cold - floor gets muddy - tantrums when wellies removed- plus, I cannot, any longer, bear thinking that all my neighbours and relatives think I don't buy shoes, and we have a familial rubber boot fetish). Any ideas?

Snap FrancesJ. We bought some red slipper socks from Great Little Trading with leather soles. They seemed very warm and comfy and dd loved them. You can wash them too.

We also bought a pair of grannyish ones from StartRite which she didn't like so much as they were too heavy.

And the White Company have lovely little fleecey booty styles.

Perhaps you can tell I love slippers

Inch Blue do those cool leather bootees right up to size 8-10. They help keep socks on! My 3 1/2 yr old son has a pair of tiger ones (has size 9 feet) which were quite big when he was size 8.

If she likes the wellie look, she might enjoy Giesswein wool felt slippers from Austria - like little wellies but made of boiled wool with rubber soles and knitted ankle cuffs. They aren't very girly but are warm and come in a range of jolly, even apres-ski colours and patterns. You can buy then online at Urchin and independent shoe retailers/children's clothes shops sell them.
Our son is a three winter veteran and loves his.
The rubber sole will withstand the odd dash onto the patio but not a visit to any flowerbeds.

Ooo, thank-you! They're all wonderful, and now my only problem is which ones to go for!!! I'm going to show dd the pictures on the computer tomorrow and let her choose, I think. I'd never seen these websites - am off now to spend a happy hour or two having a really good look through them. Now the slipper problem is cracked, I can look for a nice woolly hat, and a scarf........and I just love the dalmation pyjamas from urchin...and the organic gro-bag, and the sleeveless romper....going to stop now before I get all over-excited. Thanks all
