pushchair nightmare

What would you do? I bought a Quinny Freestyle top of the range pram (over £440) when my daughter was born January 2003. She is now 21 months old, the harness is so small it won't go over her shoulders and thus I don't feel able to use the buggy confidently, she is hanging over the side. When I contacted the manufacturer, their attitude was 'haven't had this problem before, therefore, it can't exist. Go to the shop you bought it from'. I did this, they don't want to know either, and said basically it's a case of tough luck. My daughter is of normal build and height (she weighs 28lbs) and I feel really cheated. We bought the pram in the knowledge that it would serve us well, certainly until she is over 3. Anyone else had bad experiences with Quinny?

Regards, Helen

I wouldn't say we have had a bad experience although the handbrake was a bit weak and the rubber parts wore quickly. We have a Quinny Fashion and dd is now 3.2 and in and out a lot, so I don't always use the harness although there is still plenty of room in it. If she leans right over and the pushchair is not on the level (or her brother is pushing it wildly !) it can tip. However the Freestyle has a longer wheel base, and lower centre of gravity and I've seen plenty of toddlers in just the waist/crotch strap. Could you fit a harness (reins type from Clippsafe or Ikea for example) to the anchors in the seat part and hold her in a bit tighter ?

Have you got the booster pad on it?? We've got a Quinny freestyle as well. DD is 22 months and the same weight as your dd. We had this problem recently, the straps would go round dd but not over her shoulders. When I had a look and a fiddle I realised it was because we still had the booster pad on it. I took it off and it now fits perfectly with lots more room for growth.
