Thinking of getting it for DS birthday (3) he likes painting so I wondered if this would be a mess free alternatie?

My DS is 2.3 and had Aquadraw for Christmas last year. He loved it at first, then grew bored of it. But I guess it is like everything, they love it one minute, then bored the next. In fact, he got his Aquadraw out at the weekend and had a good old scribble for about 20 minutes, then sucked the water out of the pens?

Yes, I did wonder how long it would hold his attention for and it's fairly costly at £30 to end up not played with.

Maybe I will try the crayola no mess pens instead they are only a couple of pounds

my dd1 loved playing with this at a friend's house, but I find it too expensive to buy.

My boys loved the aquadraw initially, but soon filled up the mat with pictures, and it does take a little while to dry out again.

I think the pens are on our back lawn as we speak....

oh, you can get mini ones for about a fiver in Woolies I think.

bluenosesaint · 25/10/2007 11:34

My dd2 (4) got hers when she was 2.5 ...and still plays with it!

note to self: must get her a new one with non-chewed pens

xx

We've got one. It's definately a toy that keeps them entertained for a good 20 mins and then that's it. It goes away for a couple of weeks before re-emerging. Only getting 2 pens is a pita as one is always missing.

pollywollydooooooooodle · 25/10/2007 11:39

brother bought dd the one with thomas and the tracks which she still plays with regularly 2 years on.....i saw the old style aquadraw with stencils and pens for about a tenner.... somewhere like argos i think?

MerlinsBeard · 25/10/2007 11:39

both my boys loved theirs. The mat gets filthy after a while as they are crawling all over it with toddler hands (and feet!), the pens go missing/leak/don't work and it takes a long time to dry.

Also, your DCs might do what mine did and see how long it takes other things to dry(juice/milk.....)

just getthe mini one!

DD1 has had one since she was 18mths and she loves it.

In fact we are getting her the new rainbow one for christmas/birthday as the one she has is beginning to wear out.

I think it is well worth the money because

A) give hours of fun.

B) takes up no room when not in use.

c) can be taken anywhere again as it takes no space. We have taken ours on holiday with us for the last 2 years.

Bought one today in argos - the aquadraw deluxe is currently £5 off, so £15 instead of £20

We hardly ever use DS's Aquadraw. We're both much keener on the Megasketcher. Much less faffy.
