Hello all, looking for advice pls

I bought a chocolate reindeer cake for my kids for xmas dessert as they love chocolate cake.
I got it half price as it was the last one on the shelf with bent antlers (the box was sealed and intact)
Xmas day, gave everyone a slice and my husband spat out a sticky tape with the cake from his mouth. I told him to put it aside as I would be taking it back to the shop. We could no longer eat the cake as if put us all off. I have half of the cake on the kitchen diner uneaten
I later went to the kitchen to load up the dishwasher and I accidentally washed the leftover cake with the tape-like thing in it down the drain.
I still want to take it back but then, I Dont have the sticky tape like object found in the cake.

Shall I still take it back without the tape? (at least they would have it on record something was wrong with a batch of the cake and maybe try to avoid it next time) In as much as refund would be appreciated, it is not exactly a lot of money as it won't reinstate my likeness for chocolate cake any time soon and my son is now saying he does not want to eat chocolate cake ever again 🙄

Shall I take it back without the culprit to show for it or just throw the cake away & forget about?

Just bin it and forget about it

I would just send them a message on Facebook/email. There's no need for you to turn up there with the half eaten manky cake.

Forget about it not worth it

Very dramatic over a bit of sticky tape, probably happened as you took it out of the box. Now it's put you off chocolate cake and your son will never eat chocolate cake again? C'mon!

What are you expecting them to do ? There will be no further production of this line now and you have nothing to show them - put it in the bin and move on
