Part exchanging faulty car?

I’m finally going to get rid of my Ford Fiesta. I’ve had it for a year having brought it second hand from a garage. I’ve spent about £2000 in repairs. The battery kept draining and now the electrics are causing the car to stop. I’ve recently had the body control module looked at. The garage said they are struggling to work out what’s wrong with it as it doesn’t show any faults until it dies. Strangely the garage passed its not even though they know it’s not safe to drive. Just wondering how I can part exchange the car and what I should mention to the garage? Apologies as I’ve never actually done this before as usually I’ve scrapped an old car.

When I bought a 5 year old car from a main dealer they were happy to take my damaged and faulty fiesta in part exchange and I got more from it in discount off my purchase than I would have to in selling it for scrap so it's worth doing. The dealers have the flexibility to offer more in order to attract the custom. The dealer said the old car would be just scrapped anyway. He wasn't bothered by this, just wanted to make the sale to get his commission!

Don't say anything, they will make their own assessment. You could also try We Buy Any Car. I offloaded an Audi A4 on a 2005 plate that needed a new dual mass flywheel and they didn't care

MOT testing is done based on how the car performs at the time of the test, their previous knowledge doesn't come into it.

Maybe give We Buy Any Car or similar a try as well.

Have you got an auto electrics specialist near you? They will have far more knowledge in resolving such issues.
