Looking for single duvet cover for DS, NOT...

... characters, 100% cotton. He's 4, but want something that will last pattern-wise (so not too babyish). I love this Aspace design, but they don't do it as a duvet cover, and aside from the astronomical price, have already bought the duvet so don't need a quilt as well. Most of the John Lewis ones are 50% polyester or a bit babyish. Any suggestions please ladies? Thanks!

My DSW loved the alphabet one that has the book to go with the letters on this page

I think the Blooming Marvelous and GLTC are just a bit young (expecting this purchase to last him for a number of years!) They are cotton, but a lot of the GLTC ones are jersey Feather and Black don't want to show much of the design, do they?!

See what you mean, Pagwatch - I suppose I could get the Aspace quilt and cheapy plain stuff underneath. But the one I love is £115 which is a bit much even to ask the grandparents for for christmas!

That sounds lovely Pruners - how old is he?

I've always thought that F&B photography is a bit rubbish. I don't know why they do it like that, but everything I've bought from them (adult and kids) has always been much more attractive when it arrives than it looks on the website.

Someone one here knows the people who run it, but I can't remember who. Perhaps she can drop a few hints their way if she sees this thread.

Polycotton is everywhere. Why? It's just not as nice as cotton!

What about Dunelm Mill? They do 100% cotton range in plain colours and also some patterened I think at reasonable prices (the plain can be under £10!)

Next? They have plenty of themed ones and not just characters.

AllBuggiedOut · 24/10/2007 22:39

Next are polycotton (shame, as I quite liked the dinosaur one). My DS is just 4, Pruners, I was just wondering as I want something that will last him a few years. But Habitat sounds like a good place to try, so thanks for that. Looking forward to going shopping now!

What about Designers Guild?

heifer · 25/10/2007 07:53

this one would be ok for an older boy

FlameBat · 25/10/2007 07:57

Aww, he's 4, why can't he have characters? (not that the others aren't nice, but DD's face when she gets to use her "Mickey Bed" at gran's is lovely)

NoNameToday · 25/10/2007 08:52

ou could buy a plain or relatively plain cotton duvet set quite cheaply, and then customise using the product in this link, hopefully it works.

Then you can make something he really likes.

Successful today in Habitat with what they call a "superguy" bed set . It's white with red black and blue robots, aliens, snakes and lord knows what other creatures on it. DS loves it. It is pretty cool, am very pleased! Not on the website, though...

No FlameBat, am resisting characters for as long as possible - apart from anything they're usually HIDEOUS!

Thanks for all your suggestions. I will no doubt revisit them soon when I realise one set isn't enough

Yay!
Is it hideous though? Sounds a bit not quite what you were looking for.

AllBuggiedOut · 25/10/2007 21:52

It's not hideous - I think the best word for it is "cool". I'm not sure I'd want to share my bed with some of the creatures as they don't look particularly friendly, but DS assured me he loved it! The colours are great, and no, it's not what I'd imagined but hey, we're all happy! Let's hope DS2 is as happy when moved from his cot to DS1's old toddler bed next week...

FlameInHell · 25/10/2007 22:53

Lol - I think I prefer the sound of the characters

Boys are much harder than girls though I will admit... care bears are still nice and bedtimey

AllBuggiedOut · 25/10/2007 22:57

There are some lovely girls ones - can't remember where now, but with pictures of shoes and flip-flops all over. Fab! But sadly we seem to produce only boys...
