I need a back carrier for ds.

I am tiny (4'10) and would like a back carrier for my 9 month old ds so I don't need to cart the buggy everywhere. and I tend to carry him and push the buggy anyway..

Can anyone recommend one that can carry 18lb+ without it killing your back? maybe a hip carrier or a fabric back sling?

I'm not averse to a front carrier, but I think it is lighter if they are on your hip / back??

ergo is deffo out for you. it will be too big for you. I am 5ft 3 and 7.5stone and it doesn't work. I hear that patapum also does not work for small people (5ft and under)

MTs also have the advantage of a very small learning curve and come in loads of fabrics to suit any taste.

you should try a mei tai. the one i would recommend for you is from Napsack Baby. I have never used one myself but judging from the design, I think it will suit a small mum. (I can put out some feelers for you if you want conformation of my hunch.)

I have found what i think is the ultimate answer to my small mummy dilemma. it is a tettitett They however cost around £130 brand new by the time you have paid for insurance for shipping. It is worth every penny if you ask me as i am in sling heaven at the moment.

oh, hunnybunny, another thought. I have a brand new pouch which should fit you. It is New Native (organic cotton) pouch in the smallest size they make. so it will probably fit you.

at nine months dd loved to be carried on the hip.

love the tettitets! and the napsack is good.
do you have a link for the new native one?

they are pricey aren't they! I'll have to scour ebay..

I got a chicco one a couple of weeks a ago and love it. DD weighs about 25lbs and I can manage it ok as long as we don't go too far. this one

here they are on sale at the moment.

they have a sizing chart to see if the XS will work for you.

bunnyhunny · 22/10/2007 16:31

ooh I'm not so keen on the pouch.
I much prefer the meitei style
