I am very lazy and would like to get one for breastfeeding baby 2, due in march, wanting to stay lying in bed as much as possible! Has anyone used one? Also has anyone heard of the bednest crib? I thought it looked quite good. Any help would be great!

I had this one when ds was a baby (having just had a cot for dd when she was tiny). It was fantastic and made a huge difference to the nights. Was rather like co-sleeping but without the lack of space. Depending on your own bed frame, you may have to do what I did which was to stuff the space between the side frame of the bed and the mattress of the crib with a rolled up sheet, just to cover tiny dip.

Would recommend it. Or actually, if there is a next time (and given that ds recently broke our big cot by jumping on it) will buy a bedside full-size cot.

Have both the crib and full size cot and they are great - get one (or two!!).

Deffo sounds like the way forward!
Would probably go for the crib, as my room is pretty small. What make is yours loopy?

I had a bedside cot exactly the same as the one below for dd and now ds. It was fabulous(and still is) but as ds is 10mnths old I no longer use it as a bedside one.

we had a bedside crib, dd1 refused to sleep in it. she slept in the bed and the crib became a glorified bedside table. is same for everything though, some baby's bound to turn their nose up at it, doesn't mean yours will.

did the cot fit securely with your bed carameli?
other mummies have mentioned stuffing towels down a gap which doesnt sound too safe to me!
my mattress sits in a frame.
OOOh the decisions!!!!!!!!

We had a bedside cot for DD, from Mothercare (cot, not DD! lol!) Was great, and perfect for co-sleeping too as DD would wiggle her way across gradually.

ooo that sounds lovely hulababy,
cant wait for another wee snuggly baby!

I think it depends what your bed is like, as to whether you will need to plug a gap. OUr bed had a metal external frame, with the matress sort of sitting inside the frame. So the matress could not be completely flush wit that of the crib.
If you had a divan style bed, wouldn't ahppen (I don't think).

Carameli · 19/10/2007 21:26

Avaj, our cot was fine and fitted just fine with the mattress but our mattress just sat on the frame of the bed if you know what I mean.
Perhaps someone else has one that is in a frame?
If it measures up ok they really are just great and a fab way to be near your new baby.

We got the John Lewis one. Same as puppydavies our DD refuses to sleep in it and has ended up in bed with us. Great bedside table tho!
