Looking for kids' walking boots? (big kids)

In Sports World atm they have fantastic Karrimor walking shoes - trainer-styler, low tops - for £11.99 in sizes 3-6 (list price something mad like £50).

They have adult sizes too, for c £20 - can't remember exactly.

Really nice-looking shoes in beige or grey. Lots in stock at our store. (I might have bought some but I couldn't get the sodding box open to try them on - really weird box design! )

I don't understand what is going on with karrimor, they have been selling there trainers off all over the place for months know. DH brought some about 6 months ago for about 20.

Oh really? I hadn't even looked for them, we just happened to be in SportsWorld yesterday. The company is OK as far as I know, maybe it's juts a seasonal thing? Or New designs? Anyway the ones in SW look great!

Ooh thanks for the tip. I need to get some new ones for ds1. He's only 10 but his feet are bigger than mine already! At least now he's stopped nicking my boots because they're "more comfortable" than his.

Karrimor, "the great British mountain company", went bust back in 2004, and their name was bought by Sports Direct (the owners of Sports World) who slapped the label onto very cheap Far East imports.

If you are serious about getting a pair of 'proper' walking shoes/boots then don't be fooled by these bargains. In most cases, you are paying exactly the price that they are worth, and there is no way that these are £50 (or more) shoes or boots.

Having said that, not everyone intends to climb mountains in them, and they do have some great looking shoes, and considering that most kids will grow out of these types of footwear before they actually fall apart on them, they may very well be just the ticket for most people.

Really, CF? Blimey. I should have known that, they were a local company (but 3 years ago....ooooh nooo, too many brain cells have washed under the bridge since then )

Shame about that anyway, but I agree that inferior quality (and tiny price) is perfectly OK for fast-growing kids. (And the shoes looked fine)
