In preparation for potty training I am forced to ask.....

WHY IS UNDERWEAR FOR LITTLE BOYS SOOOO SMALL? DS is a big 2y 2m old but woollies 3-4 pants even look tiny...

Is it just me?

I've always bought M&S as they fit really well. You might want to get as big as possible (as long as they stay up) so that they're easy for him to pull up and down!

suzywong · 22/10/2004 14:57

god knows, but it is minute

DS1. a chunky monkey, has 5-6 ones and they are getting a little tight around the thigh

popsycal · 22/10/2004 14:58

these 3-4 year old ones will barely cover his builder's bum!

suzywong · 22/10/2004 15:01

get him big ones

how's the bump?

popsycal · 22/10/2004 15:02

the bump is big - sure i wasnt this big at 21 weeks with ds!

It's the same for girls. It's best to go up at least one size anyway, so that they're easier to pull up and down. Try M&S or Mothercare, I find theirs are a bit bigger. You will find that Adams stuff comes up small as well, btw

Have been sorting out ds2's underpants - he's 3. The ones from 18-24 mths seem to be the same size as the age 2-3 ....am putting him in 3-4 now although he's certainly not above average for his age

hoxtonchick · 22/10/2004 15:05

i got some great mini boxer shorts from asda - fantastic.

popsycal · 22/10/2004 15:06

we have one pack of 2-3 mothercare and one 3-4 woollies and they are identical
and tiny!!!!!
will they cover his bits!

My Mum, friend and I have all pulled up DS1's pants and left his willy hanging out the side...
Obviously the pants are too small!

codswallop · 22/10/2004 15:25

noyour ds must ahave a big bum
or the pants are from woolies!

Marina · 22/10/2004 15:37

We got ds some seriously big pants from Next (boy's cotton jersey boxers). Although the correct age they are so big he can pull the waistband up to his armpits and pretend to be Vic and Bob. These pants are warmly recommended by someone who once had her ds shriek in a toilet cubicle, "mummy, you're cutting off my wee-wee" thanks to undersized Woolies pants.

SofiaAmes · 22/10/2004 22:23

gosh, I just got ds boxers and they fit just fine...no hanging out willy, except when he's demonstrating his peeing prowess.

whizzz · 22/10/2004 22:51

Thats quite true !
Never really thought about it before.
DS (4) has pants 5-6.....WHY ??
Someone explain !

Are girls pants the same or is it a boys conspiracy ?

Skate · 22/10/2004 22:56

Gosh it is as well!! My ds, age 3.5, is in age 4-5 pants but in his clothes he still wears 18-24 months or 2-3 !

He's on the 9th percentile so smaller than average for his age but not in pants!!!

coppertop · 22/10/2004 22:59

Ds1 is 4yrs old but needs at least a 5-6 to 'keep it all in'. Dh (the poor deluded soul ) thinks this is a family trait. Can't wait to show him this thread so that he can see that it's just that the pants are small.

WestCountryLass · 22/10/2004 23:25

I get my DS 'briefs' from M & S as they are bigger and altogeter more roomy than slips.

codswallop · 23/10/2004 09:38

woolies pants are small becaus e they are cheap and therefore use less fabric
t hats why I often try bhs for slim fit trousers for old snake hips himself- ds1

Or m and s but an age down ( pricer therefore more material)
tsk you lot dont you know anything

popsycal · 23/10/2004 12:52

you will be glad to know that, despite being small, the 3- 4 year old underpants from woolies contain poo very very well
yeauch
