Half term starts tomorrow, and DS1 (4) has a broken arm (poor love) which means that the plans for spending our holidays swimming etc are out the window......or so I thought!
I found these - has anyone used them? Do they work? Should I risk it?

TIA

I wouldn't risk anything where water is concerned as any softening will compromise the effectivness of the plaster. Sorry for you and her !

Waynetta I think they are more for prossthetics & being synthetic even if water doesn't leak in it might cause sweating over the cast. Not worth the risk IMHO especially if it's a recent break.

She could still sit in the shallows/on the edge couldn't she & have a splash? If you taped a plakky bag around it to keep the splashes off & stayed with her to ensure she doesn't immerse her arm....or will that be tooooo frustrating for her? And you?!

Bless her.. how awful. She'll soon mend though it's amazing how quickly those young bones knit together!

there is a photo in my profile of her wearing them.(I'm not quite sure why she was pulling that face though!)

A friend of mine used a protectacast for her DS for swimming and said it worked fine. You might want to look at the measurements rather than go by the age group, as the 4-10 size might be a little big for your 4 year old.

Thanks everyone.......although now I am confused!!! !
Might just get one and only use it if we need to....but then again maybe I won't....

CarGirl · 18/10/2007 13:34

think ours is an aquashield and cost about £15 4 years ago!

Thank you for the offer CarGirl, but I think I'm going to err on the side of caution.
Very kind of you though....
