Baby slings which one should I buy?

I've decided that this time I'd like a sling mostly so I can do things around the house without having to worry about the baby's safety especially around my then two year old ds who is lovely but has a penchant for throwing things atm. I want one that has lots of support, I have large norks and my babies are usually around 8 pounds 10 ish as newborns. Any suggestions? Also when i've breastfed before it's had to be in the rugby hold position as this is the only way the other two would latch on. Is this possible to do in a sling? TIA.

do any of your friends use slings? maybe you can borrow one - that's what I did - as it can be very difficult to find a sling that suits you and your baby.

I liked a wrap sling like a kari Me for the first year or two as they are really comfy. And very easy to use plus because you wrap them to fit you it doesn't matter what size you are.

I'll be watching this with interest!

I also have big babies and big boobs, but would love a sling for no3.

I accosted some poor woman in IKEA the other day wearing her toddler and she gave me this website:

www.cwtshi.com which has lovely ones on it.

I also fancy the one advertised on the antenatal boards on the right hand side - Close baby carrier - looks stretchy and comfy.

Coorie. I breastfed easily in mine and BabyDragon was 8lb 10 .
What I liked most was :
It was no-faff,
I could put BabyDragon down into the bouncy chair/carseat and then wriggle out of it without disturbing her,
As above but in reverse

I like your Coorie sling Soupdragon!

Their site also has hire options which looks useful:

I made my first one - it was easy peasy.

I bought a tricotti sling. You can get it at www.babyhut.net
It looks really nice, and feels safe and cosy for you and the baby.
I could use mine comfortably it until dd was 8 months old, and I am a midget quite small and have back problems.
I think it is in the NCT catalogue too.

I second tricotti I've got both the long wrap one and the one with 2 bands.
I don't like ring slings of any sort. I find them extraordiarilly uncomfortable and not good for breast feeding at all.

belgo · 15/10/2007 16:34

I also find ring slings uncomfortable. The tricotti is very easy to use; the tricot slen is the long wrap sling, but it's not woven very well adn I find it gets saggy.

The dydimus(sp?) is one of the best woven wrap around sling.

Thank you everyone. Sorry for the late response i've only just come back to the computer but lots of good ideas for me to think about. I like the look of the Coorie as it does look easy to get baby in and out of but the tricotti sling looks nice and comfy for both the baby and mother...
