VW Polo-Realistic Prices?

Hi All,

I'm looking to get a new VW Polo as a family car and we really need to keep costs down as much as possible. What's the most you've managed to negotiate down on the asking price of a new VW (preferably the Polo specifically)? Or is there a similar car out there that's going to be a better price brand new? I compared it to the Ford Fiesta, Seat Leon, and other models and they all seemed to be higher which surprised me as I always thought VW was a more expensive brand.

I’d be looking at the Toyota Yaris and Kia Ceed. Both higher quality than the Polo.

But they didnt ask for advice on the car. They asked for advice on the price.

OP dealers tend to offer better deals for people needing finance because they make money on them. I suggest asking about a finance deal and using that to barter them down on the price, although it will give you the best chance of reducing the asking. You then pay of the finance a few days later.

Try autoebid and carwow, both online . They get dealers to offer their lowest prices.
I found that if you get a quote from these the local dealer will try and beat it.

If you need to keep the cost down, why are you buying new? I would expect 15-20 years/150-200,000 miles out of a modern car.

At 3 years old and 30,000 miles you are probably saving half the cost, the car still has atleast 80% of it's life left and should not have any reliability issues. Compare the best new price on drivethedeal or carwow with a 3 year old car and ask yourself what you are getting for the extra you are spending.

I almost always buy 3 year old cars. Anything newer is a waste of money AFAIAC. I could buy new, and once did, but I don't normally see it as worth the cost.

Bought a 1.4 diesel Polo 5 years ago for £300 its still going and we just cant kill it, costs about £250 a year in servicing / repairs.
Just look at cars as a disposable item and join the AA
