Ladies I need a pressie for my Grandpa. Thing is, he doesn't read anymore, is really deaf, has had a stroke so isn't into suduko or anything, isn't allowed to drink - what on earth should I get him? thanks

What about something nice and soft and tactile? Gloves, scarf, sweater? Maybe not the most original but if he is loosing his other senses, something which will be nice to touch/wear?

A DVD with subtitles?

My Grandad is 95 tomorrow. I always get him a nice bouquet of flowers. He used to enjoy gardening and I figure that since my Grandma died he won't often have flowers in the house.

I'm trying really hard, here, spooky.

He was born in 1922, so would have been a proper buster in the 1930s. But, he doesn't read and he's deaf, so it's very limiting.

When you say he doesn't read, is that because his eyesight is failing, or simply his interest in the written word?

Because I was thinking that a newspaper, printed on the day he was born, would be a lovely gift. Providing it wasn't a Sunday, it will be a proper copy and not a facsimile.

Even if he only gets that the date on the newspaper is his birthday, it might be nice.

a bit dearer than your budget, but I've also seen these jigsaw holders in other places cheaper (eg the Works)
And a jigsaw with largeish pieces?
A Get Well Wheel if he's taking tablets regularly?
Smart dressing gown for winter?
