ive had both types
the condenser was truly awful

BrownSuga · 12/10/2007 14:08

have used the condensing type (in a construction camp so didn't pay the bills), it took FOREVER to dry a load, very frustrating. have not used the other type. we just use a clothes airer in the conservatory, might be an idea if you don't really use one very much.

shove the hose out of the cat flap (or window as we do...)

EmsMum · 12/10/2007 14:10

combined washer/condensing drier was a DISASTER!

hose out of the garage door for us now.

Apart from the running costs, theres less to go wrong than with condenser

chocolateteapot · 12/10/2007 14:16

Our condensor one was really noisy, took ages to dry annd gave up the ghost after 15 months.

We now have a hose one which is vented to outside under the floorboards in a cupboard.

I have a bosch condensor which is fab

I was VERY dubious
but i can't tell the diff

Jackstini · 12/10/2007 14:21

Def hose out the door type - unless you want warm damp clothes even after 2 hours...

Anna8888 · 12/10/2007 14:22

I have a Siemens condenser. It's excellent.

i agree with jackstini
a condenser just gives you damp but hot clothes

suedonim · 12/10/2007 14:55

I've just bought a Bosch condenser drier as our ordinary drier was damaging the utilty room because we couldn't vent the steam efficiently. The new drier is fab, easy to use. The clothes may seem damp when first out of the drier but within a few moments any residual steam goes and stuff can be put away. Also, I have to iron even less than before as there are fewer creases.

UnquietDad · 12/10/2007 14:58

We have a shove-the-hose-out one and it's been OK.

Although a colleague of DW's told us once that she'd had hers properly installed with an outlet in the wall... and a rat came up it.

suedonim · 12/10/2007 15:36

Was it nice and fluffy by the time it had been tumbled a few times??

chopchopbusybusy · 12/10/2007 15:47

I don't like the condenser ones either. If you are buying second hand it's worth considering the energy efficiency as a lot of the older models do use a lot more electricity.
