Budget supermini/small car recommendations please

I'm looking to change my old Nissan Micra for another small car/supermini. It will be a used car, probably 2-4 years old and I want a decent spec with electric wing mirrors, Bluetooth, AC etc. for a budget of around £7000-£9000. It will mainly be used as a run-around and I don't need to accommodate car seats.

Currently looking at the Toyota Aygo and the Hyundai i10 as well as the new Micra...any other suggestions? I'm not keen on the look of the Kia Picanto as I think it's a bit boxy!

I’ve got a Skoda Citigo - same as the VW Up and Seat Mi and it’s brilliant. Sips fuel, stop start, Bluetooth, AC etc.etc, Bought new 2 years ago for £10,500 so sure you could find low mileage used within price range. It’s got loads more space than the Argo. It has 4 seats rather than 5 but unless you will regularly use 5, it’s not an issue. Servicing is cheap and it’s very green apart from not being an EV.

I have a Hyundai i10. I absolutely love it! Cheap to run and lovely to drive. Feels very spacious inside. (Mine is the old model.) it's 7 years old and never had any issues. I wanted a Toyota Aygo originally. Until I sad in the identical Citroen C1 and it felt really cramped. My parents have a Vauxhall viva. It feels very tiny next to my i10.

Thanks for the replies. I haven't looked at Skodas yet. I really need to see the cars in real life but don't want to go wandering around car dealers atm!

I would also suggest Skoda. Currently on our fourth. Citigo is a fab fun small car.
I can also Skodas are excellent at protecting the occupants in a high speed crash. Dh walked away from being shunted by a lorry on the motorway and into the crash barrier and he ended up hitting another lorry. He didn’t even have a bruise. Car was a write off, but it saved his life. Passenger cage was left intact.

I'm on my second mazda 2. £30 a year tax, 400 miles/£40 and it had 110,000 on the clock when I sold it. Didn't cost me a penny until the last MOT other than routine stuff.

Never failed to stay or break down. May be worth a look.

We got our student daughter a Skoda Citigo to get to placements. Good legroom room for rear seat passengers, decent boot space, low insurance and amazing fuel economy.

The main draw back is a very clunky gearbox, and, inevitably, not much engine power. Also the rear windows are weird.

For good reviews and comparisons between cars of the same class look on the Carwow website.

Thanks again. I've looked at lots of reviews on car websites but they are more about performance than practicality.

I found the Carwow ones really buyer oriented and liked being able to compare similar cars side to side.

We selected the Citigo party because it was rated the most stable on motorways and because the boot, with seats down could fit a bicyclist. Plus we wanted to buy a three year old car from a dealer, as we know nothing about cars, and they provided details of what was in stock.
