Honestly they're gross. You won't need one. Take them straight outside. If you end up having a c section you won't be alone for the first few days when you can't walk....nappies go straight into a bag, tie it up and into the bin outside. A shit filled plastic bin with a lid is terrible. I had one with DD1 because I was given it free with something else I bought...there's a reason they give them free!

We have used the tommee tipee one for DS1 and have just bought another for no 2 due imminently.

It's very convenient and easy to use.

I’ve never understood nappy bins. Why would you want to leave dirty nappies in the room, regardless of it being in a special bin. I always take them straight to the outside bin.

We have an angelcare one in the baby's room and have only ever used it for wet nappies. Dirty ones go straight outside. And it gets cleaned and emptied on a weekly basis.

It's convenient for the pre bath, midnight & early morning nappy changes. The rest of the nappies are usually done downstairs so get wrapped in a nappy bag and put in the bin.

I would say they're handy, but not essential

My recommendation is don’t get one. One of my biggest first time parent purchase regrets (and their are many). They are such a waste of money and plastic. We bought two. They still stunk, and poops ended up going straight outside anyway because the idea of festering nappies grossed me out.

Use the normal bin which probably gets emptied more regularly.

I was thinking of putting it in the garage not nursery etc. Wouldnt putting in rubbish bin outside stink out rubbish bin and smelling it everytime you open it. It only gets removed once a week so thought maybe a nappy bin might contain the smell maybe .........

I had a Tommee Tippee one - loved it. It was so convenient.
I suppose it depends on your house set up and your bin set up. It was a real pain to have to put nappies in our outside bin every time. The nappy bin kept them sealed and smell free for several days.

We got a cheap one from Ikea that we empty every day and doesn't cause any smells. Wouldn't spend too much money on it because you'll throw them out after a year or three. They're hardly less disgusting then a toilet brush 😂

I've used them with all four children, I previously used tommee tippee and have bought and angel care one for the next one and it doesn't really seem much different.

I am curious about what people do with nappies without a nappy bin, our bedroom is on the top floor (three story house) there is no way I will be running up and down stairs during nighttime changes to put a nappy in the out side bin! Do dirty nappies just get left in the bedroom until the morning? It seems much more convenient to pop them in a plastic sealed container that wraps them for you.

No, they don't contain the smell at all. It's not as strong as an open nappy of course but it's still clearly the smell of poo.

Put them straight in your outside bin. If it gets a bit smelly, just sprinkle some bicarb in there.

I used a nappy bin with my first dd (she's 16 now!).
Horrible horrible things, they stink to high heaven, I'm pregnant with No 3 now and I won't be buying one this time. Having said that I lived in a flat back then and it wasn't practical to take them outside every time.
