Selling my pride and joy

I just have sold it and I’m quite upset about it. It was becoming a bit of a struggle having a gt86 as daily driver because it was not practical enough and it was uncomfortable taking it on short journeys to somewhere like the shop but if you took it on country roads or twisty roads it was so much fun to drive. It was just amazing to own especially the fact I managed to own it at 23 years old, it was an amazing achievement to have at such a young age and then I didn’t need it for practical reasons because I didn’t have responsibilities at that age like going to the shop or anything. I could have whatever car I wanted at that age but when you get older it’s just one of them things you have to do, you have to buy a sensible practical car.

I have put a deposit down on a Ford S max which is a practical car and if you get it on some twisty roads or country roads it can be fun but it’s not as connected as a sports car like my gt86. An s max is probably the best suv out there for because it’s fun, has loads of space, reliable and has 7 seats. I test drove a Citroen c4 Picasso and it was so rubbish to drive and dull. I’m glad I’m getting a new car but I’m still upset about selling my gt86 because it was special to me that I owned it at a young age but also how fun you could have with it. I would always just go on drives but I would not be going anywhere in it, when I got it at 23 I sometimes just took the long way home from work just for the fun of it. The s max is fun but I doubt I’ll just be going out for drives in it because it’s still not a sports car. Has anyone else been upset like this about selling a car?

Not my cup of tea but glad you liked it. If you wanted something larger but fun either the current or previous generation Civic R are both incredibly practical or even a MINI Countryman in JCW guise is a hoot.

I really feel for you. I sold my Golf R in January so I could pay off debts and I still miss it terribly. I got a cheap 2011 Mini Cooper SD and while it was fun as hell to drive it kept going wrong - my fault for buying a cheap car with patchy at best service history. I ended up part ex-ing it in August and got a Polo GTI. It's not quite the same as the golf and is obviously a bit slower but still goes well and with a stage 1 map it should be almost on par on a rolling start with a Golf R. I'll buy another Golf R one day as I'm grieving it badly Sad
