shoes for a small 8 month old

DD needs some sort of footwear to stop her pulling her socks off and to protect her toenails from crawling on my mums stone floor. I didn't do shoes with DS until he was walking so I'm a bit unsure what to do.

I got wee soft shoes from next for her but they're a size 2, are massive but fairly tight width wise as she still kicks them off. Was thinking of some startrites or something but they start in a 2.

Any suggestions?

tights?

hana · 10/10/2007 22:50

was also going to suggest tights!

suzi2 · 10/10/2007 22:57

sorry, should have said that tights break her eczema out worse for some reason.

anything here?

Expensive, but I got ds \link{http://www.inch-blue.com/Inch Blue} shoes for the same reason. I justified it by reckoning it was saving me a fortune replacing all those odd socks we kept coming home with as he's big on casually pulling off his socks and chucking them out the pram.

Daisy Roots are the same. They are very pretty.

Try Daisy Roots. Softest leather, elasticated ankles, about 15 quid a pair. Sorry can't do links, just google daisy roots, that should give you an idea. HTH

Oh snap Spookthief LOL

suzi2 · 10/10/2007 23:03

Oh, they both look pretty good. I guess that if she does need a walking shoe before she's out of them (DS was a VERY slow grower in the feet dept!) then they'd make fab slippers!

I got these for DD and they stay on well too

suzi2 · 13/10/2007 14:37

I tried a local shop but they didn't have the daisyroots in her size. They measured her and she isn't quite featuring on their device so she's almost a size 1. At 8 months! Lady in the shop warned that I might be struggling when she's walking properly, depending on when she does it. And it looks like I won't be going daft for all the lovely winter boots next year as she'll still be wee.

Anyway, I've got a pair of those next ones in size 3-6 months which should do the trick when we're out and about. I tried a boot style but her ankles are too fat

Thanks for your help everyone.

Gap socks stay on 3 pairs for £5. Neither of mine managed to pull them off.

suzi2 · 13/10/2007 20:08

lol, I'm a big fan of gap socks as they do stay on better than most, but DD still hauls them off!
